01 Commission Salaries (?) CHARTER ORDINANCE NO. 1
A CHARTER ORDINANCE EXEMPTING THE CITY OF SALINA, KANSAS,
FROM SECTION 12-1008 OF THE 1961 SUPPLEMENT OF THE GENERAL
STATUTES OF KANSAS, 1949, AND PROVIDING SUBSTITUTE AND ADDITIONAL
PROVISIONS ON THE SAME SUBJECT, PROVIDING FOR THE SALARIES OF THE
CITY COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF SALINA, KANSAS, TO BE $1,200
PER YEAR AND PROVIDING FURTHER THAT THE CITY COM~{ISSIONER
DESIGNATED AS MA-YOR SHALL RECEIVE AN ADDITIONAL $600 PER YEAR.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF SALINA,
KANSAS:
Section 1. The City of Salina, Kansas, a City-Manager Plan
city of the first class by power vested in it by Article 12,
Section 5, Of the Constitution of the State of Kansas, hereby
elects to a~d exempts itself from and makes inapplicable to it
Section 12-1008 of the 1961 Supplement of the General Statutes,
1949, being a part of Chapter 65, Laws of 1959, which applies
only to City-Manager Plan cities of the first class with a
population 0f not more than 90,000 and applying to said city and
to provide substitute and additional provisions as hereinafter
provided.
Section 2. That each Commissioner of the City of Salina,
Kansas, shall receive as compensation a sum of $1,200 per year
payable in monthly installments; and provided further that the
City Commissioner designated as Mayor of the said City shall
receive in ~ddition to the above-mentioned sum a further sum of
$600 per year which shall be payable in monthly installment
Section 3. This ordinance shall be published once each
week for two consecutive weeks in the official City paper.
Section 4. This is a charter ordinance and shall be
submitted to a referendum at an election called for that purpose,
and this charter ordinance shall become effective when approved
by a majori!y of the electors voting thereon.
Passed by the Governing Body, not less than 2/3 of h~.~~~

N ier 1 was introduced for flirst reading entitled: A Charter ~Ordinance exempting the City of
Salina, Kansas from Section 12-1008 of the 1961 Supplement of the General Statutes of Kansas,
1949, and providing substitute and additional provisions of the same subject, providing for the
salaries of the City CommissiOners of the City of Salina, Kansas, to be $1,2OO.00 per year and
providing further that the City Commissioner designated as Mayor shall receive an additional
$600.00 per year. (No vote on the motion shown in the minutes)
