ORDINANCE NO.
An ordinance apporrtdoning and levying a special assessment on certain lots
and.patts of lots in''the city of Salina, Kansas, to pay their
proport-innate cost''of-the expense of paving the alleys between
Fifth street and Santa - Fey avenue and S4'renth street and Sante
Fe avenue, between Ash street and Iron avenue, and relating to
and providini for the collection of such assessments.
Be it.ordained by the Mayor and Councilmen of the city of Salina:
Section 1. That for the purpose of paying at one time the .en-
tire proportionate cost chargeable to the lots and parts of lots here-
inafter described for the paving of the alley between Fifth street and:
Santa Fe,,. avenue and the alley '''between Seventh street.and Santa Fe avenue,
from Iron avenue to Ash street, in the city of Salina, Kansas, there is
hereby levied and assessed a special assessment on the lots and parts of
lots hereinafterdescribed and liable therefor -abutting on such alleys,
the distance paved, according„t:o the appraised value of such lots and
parts of lots without rdgard to the buildings and improvements thereon,
which value has heretofore been ascertained by three disinterested ap-
praisers heretofore appointed by the mayor and council „ as required by
law, said special assessment being based on the special valuation and
appr•aisement of said lots and parts of lots,and the several amounts
levied,amd apportioned and assessed against each of the same according
to the benefits derived by season of the pav&ng of said alleys above de-
scribed, as follows, to -wit:

Sec. 2. After the publicat ion. of this ordinange, as provided by
law, the city clergy; shall transmit a certified copy of the same to the
county .clerk of Saline county', Kansas, who shall place the amounts assessed
.against each lot' -'and part of lot cdescribed in section 1 of"this ordi-,

nance upoh the tax rolls of said county, which said several amounts shall
be colledted by the county treasurer of said county as one tax in the
same manner- as other taxes andfassessments are collected, as provided by
law.
Sec. 3.This ordinanc'le shall take: effect and be in force from
and after its publication onceu in the Salina Evning Journal.
