An Ordinance authorizing and,directing the repairing anddre-paving of
;_- certain alleys in the city of Salina, Kansas, hereinafter
named and described.
Be it ordained by the Mayor and Councilmen of the City of Salina:
Section 1. That the city council be, and it is,hereby(authorized
and directed to cause the alle�,:,between Santa Fe avenue and Fifth street,
south from Iron avenue to the south line of Lots No. 116 on Fifth street
and 115 on Santa Fe avenue, and the alley between Santa Fe avenue and
Seventh street, south from Iron avenue to the south line of lots No. 116
on Santa Fe avenue and 115 on Seventh street, to be repaired and re -paved
As specified'in section two of this ordinance.
Sec. 2. That the repairing and re -paving herein provided for
shall be done in accordance with the original plans provided for the pav-
ing of said alleys and the directions and specifications of the city
engineer now
on
file
in the office
of the
city
clerk of said
city.
Sec.
3.
That.the
mayor and
city
clerk
be authorized
to con-
tract with the Nelson Building and Mercantile Co., of Salina, Kansas, for
repairing and re -paving said alleys, at and for the ]price;, or prices
named in their proposal now on file with the clerk and in compliance with
the plans, directions and specifications on file in his said office.
Sec. 4. That the cost of such repairing and re -paving herein
provided for shall be assessed as a special tax against the property on
either side of said alleys, in the blocks in which said alleys are lo-
cated, the distance to be repaired and re -paved, according to the assess -
t
ed value of the lots or pieces of ground theteinV and certified by the
city -clerk to the county clerk and placed upon the tax roll for collection
as'other taxes.

This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from
arida after its publication once in the "Salina Daily Republican -Journal."
