1894 Improve Thirteenth StreetPAY Y 383 ORDINANCE .NO. 1894 (Published in the Salina Evening Journal October 1915.) 1 1 1 An ordinance 'letting the contract for the -curbing and guttering of Thirteenth Street in Salina, Kansas. -between the north line, of -the right-of-wa -of the Union Pacific Railroad Company and the south line of rand Avenue. WHEREAS, under the provisions of Ordinance No. 1883, passed and approved September 20th, 1915, the Mayor and Council determined to curb and gutter Thirteenth Street in the City of Salina, Kansas, between the north line of the right-of-way of the Union Pacific Rail- road Company and the south line of Grand Avenue; and WHEREAS, plans and specifications for the making of said im- provements have been made by the city engineer and filed with the City Clerk as provided in Ordinance No. 1883, and the same have been adopted and approved by the mayor and council; and, WHEREAS, proposals for constructing such curbing and guttering have been filed with the city clerk and such proposals have been examined by the Mayor and Council, and the proposal or bid of Watts& Amerman is hereby found and determined to be the most satisfactory proposal for the construction of the curbing and guttering herein provided for and the prices named in such proposal is hereby found to be less than the estimated cost of such improvements as heretofore made by the City Engineer and is now on file with the City Clerk; therefore, Be it ordained by the Mayor and Councilmen of the City of Salina: Section 1. That the curbing and guttering of said Thirteenth Street, within the limits hereinbefore specified and as provided in said Ordinance No. 1883, shall be so constructed that the lot line edges of such curbing shall ,be set nineteen and one-half X192) feet from and parallel with thb center line of said street. Sec. 2. That a contract be and is hereby let to Watts & Am- erman for the curbing and guttering of said Thirteenth Street between the limits hereinbefore defined, at and for the uniform price of seventy-four cents (74¢) per lineal foot for the lineal feet of curb - Ing and guttering actually constructed and put in place on ..said street, as computed and measured by the city engineer of said City. Sec. 3. That such contract is awarded upon the express condi- tion that the work and improvements to be done and performed there- under shall be done in strict accordance with the specifications of the City Engineer and in a proper and workmanlike manner, which said • specifications are hereby made a part of this ordinance and of the contract hereby awarded; and upon the further condition, among others, that the said Watts & Amerman shall execute and file with the City of Salina, within ten days from this date, a good and sufficient bond in the approximate sum of the cost of such improvement, guarantee- ing uarantee- ing such curbing and guttering as in said specifications provided, and a further bond that all claims and demands for labor and materi- al used in the performance of such contract by said contractor will be paid, both of which bonds shall have the written approval of the may- or as to sufficiency, and of the city attorney as to form.
