1893 Improve Alley (Santa Fe & 5th)1 i PIl y 1 1 1 1 U ORDINANCE NO. 1893. (Published in the Salina Evening Journal October / , 1915.) An ordinance specifying and selecting the paving material to be used, and letting the contract for the paving and excavating of the unpaved portion of the alley between Santa Fe Avenue and Fifth Street,, north of Ash Street, in the city of Salina, Kansas. WHEREAS, under the provisions of Ordinance No. 1885, passed and approved September 20th, 1915, the Mayor and Council determined to pave and excavate the unpaved portion of the alley between Fifth ttreet and Santa Fe Avenue, north of Ash Street, and, WHEREAS, plans and specifications for the making of said im- provements have been made by the City Engineer and filed with the City Clerk, as provided in Ordinance No. 1885, and the same have .been adopted and approved by the Mayor and Council, and, WHEREAS, proposals for doing such paving and excavating have been filed with the City Clerk, and such proposals have been examin- ed by the Mayor and Council and the proposal or bid of Watts & Amer- man is hereby found and determined to be the most satisfactory pro- posal for the kind and character of pavement hereinafter designated and selected, and that the prices named in such proposal are found to be less than the estimated cost of such improvement as hereto- fore made by the City Engineer, and now on ,file with the City Clerk; therefore, Pe it ordained by the Mayor and Councilmen of the City of Salina: Section 1. The Mayor and Council hereby determine that the unpaved portion of the alley between Fifth Street and Santa Fe Aven- ue, north of Ash Street, shall be paved with cement concrete paving, six (6) inches * in thickness, as specified in the specifications of the City Engineer of said City and now on file with the City Clerk, and which specifications are hereby adopted and approved as and for the specifications for the paving and excavating of said alley, be- tween the limits aforesaid. Such paving shall be ten (10) feet in width. Sec. 2. All excavating, filling and roiling necessary for the proper construction of such improvements shall be done and all of said improvements shall be made and done in conformity to and compli- ance with the plans and specifications therefor made by the City Engineer and now on file with the City Clerk, and such plans and specifications are hereby incorporated and made a part of this ord- inance in all respects as if the same were written out in full here- in. Sec. 3. That a contract be and is hereby awarded to Watts & Amerman for the paving and excavating of said alley between the lim- its aforesaid, with the material specified in Section One (1) hereof, at and for the uniform price of.One and 30100 Dollars, ($1.30) per square yard for the square yards of such pavement actually laid and in place upon said alley, and for the excavating necessary to proper- ly construct such paving, said Contractors shall be paid at the rate of sixty cents (60¢) per cubic yard, for the cubic yards of dirt actu- ally removed from said alley; and the mayor and council hereby de- termine and find that the price hereby agreed to be paid for the im- provements of oreaa id are less than the estimated prices and cost of each and all of said improvements as made and furnished by the said City Engineer, whcih estimated cost of each and all of such improvements as made by said City Engineer is now on file with the City Clerk. Sec. 4. That such contract is awarded upon the express con- dition that such work and improvement shall be done in strict accord- ance with the specifications of the City Engineer therefor, which are hereby made a part of this ordinance and of the contract hereby awarded; and upon the further condition among others, that the said Watts & Amerman shall give to the City a surety bond in the approxi- mate sum of the cost of such improvements, guaranteeing such pavement against all defects for a period of two (2) years, after such paving shall be completed and accepted by the City. Such paving shall be ten (10) alley, between the limit feet in width. Sec. 2. All excavating, filling and rolling necessary for the proper construction of such improvements shall be done and all of said improvements shall be made and done in c onf irmit y to and compliance with the plans and specifications therefor made by the City Engineer and now on file with the City Clerk, and such plans and specifications are hereby incorporated and made a part of this ordinance in all respects as if the satre were written out in full herein. Sec. 3.
