An ordinance providing for the appointment of an Assistant Fire Chief,
fixing his duties and compensation, and repealing so much
of Ordinance No. 1480 as 'is in conflict herewith.
Be it ordained by' the Mayibr and Councilmen of the City of Salina:
Section 1. ThetMayor shall appoint and the Council confirm, as
other officers of the city are appointed and confirmed, an assistant
Fire Chief who shall, in the absence of the Fire Chief, act as Fire
Chief, and perform all the duties and have the same powers the Fire
Chief would have if present.. The Assistant Fire. Chief shall, when the
Fire Chief is present, be goverened by the same rules as the other fire-
men on .addition to his other .duties. The Assistant Fire Chief shall
do the mechanical work necessary to keep the Auto Fire Trucks of the
Fire Department in first-class condition and he shall be an automobile
mechanic with such skill that he can successfully keep the Fire Trucks
in good, serviceable condition.
See. 2. The Assistant Fire Chief shall receive, as full compen-
sation for all his services, the sum of Sixty-five Dollars, (65.00)
per month, payable monthly as other bills against the City are present-
ed and paid.
Sec. 3. So much of Ordinance No. 1480 as is in conflict herewith
is hereby repealed.
Sec. 4. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and
after its publication once in the Salina Evening Journal.
