ORDINANCE NO. 1856. _ -
(Published in the Salina Evening Journal June 1915.)
An ordinance providing -for the repairing and re-laying of certain
sidewalks in the city of Salina, Kansas.
Be it ordained by the Mayor and Councilmen of the City of Salina:
Section 1. That the sidewalks in front of and adjacent to the
following described real estate in the city of Salina, Kansas, to -wit:

be and the same are hereby condemned as unsafe and unfit for public use
and travel and that such sidewalks shall be rebuilt, reconstructed and
repayed, by bringing the same to grade, by the owner of the property
abutting such sidewalk, on or before the 21st day of July, 1915, as in
this ordinance provided.
Sec. 2. That the City Engineer is hereby directed to furnish the
grade to which all of the foregoing described sidewalks shall be raised
upon the request of the owner or owners of the property on which such
sidewalk abuts, and all of such sidewalks shall, on or before the 21st
day of July, 1915, be re-laid, repaired and re -constructed to corre-
spond with such grade so given and made.

Sec. 3. The committee on sidewalks of the city council shall, as
soon as practicable, after the 21st day of July, 1915, cause all such
sidewalk as hereinbefore described to be repaired and re-laid as in this
ordinance provided where the owner or owners of the same fail or re-
fuse to repair the same, and'shall report their proceedings together
with the length and dimensions of said sidewalk so repaired and the cost
of the same to the City Council.
Sec. 4. The expense of reparing said walk.by said city shall be
assessed against the real estate abutting thereon according to the front
foot thereof, and certified and collected as other taxes against said
real-estate.
Sec. 5. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from
and after its publication once in the Salina Evening -Journal.
