ORDINANCE -NO.--1829
An ordinance providing for the issuing of sewer improvement
bonds of the city of Salina, Kansas, in 'the sum of $4500.00
WHEREAS, the mayor and council of the city of Salina have caused
to be built and constructed certain sewers in said city, as provided for
and described in Ordinance No. 1821 of said city, passed and approved
March 1st, 1915, the total contract price and cost of which is $4500.00,
therefore,
Be it ordained by the Mayor.and Councilmen of the City of Salina:
Section 1. That the cost of said sewers shall be payable in nine
equal annual installments, instead of levying the entire tax for said
cost at one time, the first installment to be paid with the taxes for
the year 1915 and one installment with the taxes of each succeeding year
thereafter until the whole of such cost shall be paid; and that for.such
installments there shall be issued sewer improvement bonds of the city
of Salina, Kansas, in the total sum of $4500.00, as hereinafter provid-
ed .
Sec. 2. Said issue of bonds shall consist of nine (9) bonds of
the denomination of Five Hundred Dollars, (500.00) each; they shall be
dated April 1st, 1915,, and payable as follows, viz: $500.00 on the first
day of April, 19163, and $500.00 on the first day of April in each year
thereafter for eight years.
Sec. 3. Said bonds shall bear interest at the rate of five per
cent per annum from their date, payable semi-annually on the first days
of October and April of, each year, the first semi-annual installment of
interest falling due October lst, 1915; and the several installments of
interest shall be evidenced by coupons attached to:said bonds, and both
principal and interest shall be payable at the Fiscal Agency of the.
State of Kansas{, in Topeka, Kansas.
Sec. 4. Said bonds shall be signed by the mayor and attested by
the clerk of the city and shall have the corporate seal of the city
affixed thereto, and said interest coupons shall be signed by said city
clerk..
Sec. 5. The mayor and clerk are hereby -authorized and directed
to prepare and execute, as soon as practicable, the said bonds herein
provided for, therein pledging the credit of said city for the payment
thereof, and when executed the said bonds shall be by the mayor and
council sold, for not less than their par value, and out of the pro-
ceeds t -hereof pay the cost of building and constructing such sewers;
or, said mayor and council may, at their option, deliver said bonds, in
the proper amount, to the contractors constructing. such sewers in full

payment of their contract with said city for the building and construct-
ing of said sewers; and the mayor and council shall make provision an-
nually for the payment of the principal and interest of said bonds as
the same.shall become due by levying assessments or taxes against the
property liable. therefor.
Sec. 6. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from
and after its publication once in the Salina Evening Journal.,

proceeds thereof pay the cost of building and constructing such senvers;

the proper amount, to the contractors constructing such sewers in full
payment of their contract with said city for the building and construct-
