An. ord inance providing for the issuing of $4,000-00 of bonds of
the City of Salina,for the purpose of contributing toward and aiding
.in the. payment of.the. cost_ of building and constructing -.a reinforced con-
crete bridge across the Smaky Hill river, on Iron avenue, in the city
of Salina., . Kansas .
... WHERFAS-,. in. pursuance. to. a. specialelection held in the city of
Salina. on. the. 10th. day. of.February, 1914, the mayor and council of said
city- were duly authorized to issue bonds of said city, in the sum of.
Four Thousand (4,000.00) Dollars, due in ten (10) years from date, and
bearing interest at the rate of five (5) per cent per annum, for the
purpose of contributing that sum of money toward and aiding in the cost
of building _and constructing, by Saline county, Kansas, of a ,reinforced
concrete bridge aaross the Smoky Hill river, on Iron avenue, in the
city of Salina, Kansas; and,
WHEREAS, The County Commissioners of Saline county, Kansas, have
had plans and specifications for a reinforced concrete bridge at such
crossing -aforesaid prepared and are about to let the contract for the
building and construction of such a bridge; Now, therefore,
Be it ordained by the Mayor and Councilmen of the City of Salina:
Section 1. For the purpose of raising the sum of four thousand
(4,000.00) Dollars for the purpose of enabling the City of Salina in
contributing that sum of money toward and aiding in the cost of building
and constructing, by Saline county, Kansas, or a reinforced concrete
bridge across the Smoky Hill river, on Iron avenue, in the city of Sa-
lina, there are hereby issued the bonds of said city in the said sum of
four thousand (4,000.00) Dollars, as herein provided.
Sec. 2. Said issue of bonds shall consist of eight (8) bonds
of the denomination of five hundred (500.00) Dollars each; they shall
be dated January 1st, 1915, and shall be due and payable in ten (10)
years from their date..
Sec. 3. Said bonds shall bear interest at the rate of five (5)
pdr cent per annum from their date, payable semi-annually on the first
days of July and January of each year, the.f first semi-annual install-
ment of interest falling due on July lst, 1915; and the several install-
ments of `interest shall be. -evidenced by coupons attached to said bonds;,
and both principal and interest shall be payable at the Fiscal Agency
of the State of Kansas, at Topeka, Kansas.
Sec. 4._ Said bonds shall be signed by the Mayor and attested by
the clerk of said wity, and shall have the corporate seal of said city
affixed thereto, and such interest coupons shall be..signed by said may -

Sec. 5. The mayor and clerk of said city are hereby authorized
and directed to prepare and execute said bonds as soon as practicable,
therein pledging the credit of the city for the payment thereof; and
when executed, said bonds shall be sold by the mayor and council, at
not less than their par value, and the proceeds thereof applied to
the purpose for which they are issued, in such manner and at such time
or times as the mayor and council may direct; and the mayor and coun-
oil shall annaully levy a tax sufficient to create a sinking fund with
which to retire. said bonds at their maturity.
Sec. 6. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from
and after its publication once in the Salina Evening Journal.
