1790 Award Sewer Improvments - Highland152 (Published in the Salina Evaning Journal September/,;-/, 1914) ORDINANCE NO. 1790. An ordinance letting the contract for the construction and build - Ing of certain sewers in the city of Salina. WHEREAS, under the provisions of Ordinance No. 1783, the Mayor and council determined to build and construct certain sewers in the city of Salina, in said ordinance described; and, WHEREAS, proposals for the building of such sewers have been filed V+ith the city clerk, and the same have been examined by the Mayor and Coun- cil, and the proposal or,bid of D. G. Stack, of Salina-, Kansas, is hereby found and determined to be the most satisfactory bid for the building and construction of such sewers of such sewers; and such bid or proposal of such successful bidder does not exceed in amount the total estimated cost of building and constructing such sewers, as shown by the estimate of the cost thereof made by the engineer of the city of Salina, and now on file with the city clerk thereof; Therefore, Be it ordained by the Mayor and Councilmen of the City of Salina: Section 1. That a contract be and is hereby let to D. G. Stack for the building and construction of the following described sewers, to -wit: An eighteen (18) inch sewer on Crawford avenue between Santa Fe av- enue and Highland avenue; a fifteen (15) inch sewer on Highland avenue between Crawford avenue and Bond street, and a twelve (12) inch sewer on Highland avenue between Prescott avenue and Crawford avenue,. including all catchbasins and manholes specified in the specifications of the city engineer of said city describing such sewers, at and for the prices given and specified in the said proposal of said B. G. Stack, filed with the City Clerk on the 7th day of-Sgptember, 1914, which said bid or proposal is hereby specially referred to and made a part of this ordinance in all respects as if the same were written out 'in full herein; Provided, that the price or sum to be paid said D. G. Stack for all sewers describ- ed in his said bid shall not exceed Three Thousand Seven Hundred Sixtyp Five and No/100 (3765.00) Dollars. Sec. 2. That such sewers and all work connected therewith and as specified and described in the said city engineer's specifications there- for and embraced in and covered by said ordinance No. 1783, shall be done is strict compliance with the said city engineer's specifications. therefor, which such specifications are hereby made a part of this ord- inance and a part of the contract hereby awarded. Sec. 3. The preson to whom said contract is awarded as aforesaid shall execute a written contract covering such sewers, and shall exe- 1 1 1 1 11 PA Y 153 1 cute to the city of Salina a good and sufficient bonds as required by said.specifications aforesaid, for the purposes therein specified, in said specifications, and a good and sufficient bond to the State of Kansas, conditioned that he will pay all claims for labor and materials used on said sewer construction which might be the basis for mechanics liens on said sewer and against the city of Salina, Sec. 4. That such sewers and all work connected therewith and as specified and described in the said city engineer's specifications therefor and embraced in -and covered by said ordinance No. 1783, shall be done in .strict compliance with the said city engineer's specifica- tions therefor, which such specifications are hereby made a part og this ordinance and a pert of the contract hereby awarded. Sec. 3. The person kkA to whom said contract is awarded as a- foresaid shall execute a written contract covering such sewers, and shall execute to the City of Salina a good and sufficient bond, as reguired by said specifications aforesaid, for the purposes specified in said specifications, and a good and sufficient bond to the State of Kansas, conditioned that he will pay all claims for labor and mater- ial used on said sewer construction which might be the basis for mechanics lienson said sewer and against the city of Salina.
