An ordinance providing for the construction of certain sewer in
the City of Salina., and letting the contract therefor. and providing for
the payment of the cost thereof .
Be it ordained by the Mayor and Councilmen of the City of Salina:
Section 1. That it is necessary and herRby ordered that a twelve
(12) inch be built on Walnut street between Second street and the bridge
crossing the Smoky Hill river on said Walnut street, including eight
catch basins and one manhole.
See. 2. That the specifications for such work and improvement. made
and nreDared by the city emgineer of said city and filed with the city
clerk on the 21st day of July, 1914, are hereby adopted and approved as
and for the specifications for the work embraced therein and in this ord-
inanee, and.are hereby made a Dart of this ordinance, and all the work
herein described shall be done in accordance with such specifications.
Se -c. 3. That a contract be and is hereby let and awarded to L. C.
.Ahart for the building of the sewer, catch basins and manholes in this
ordinance and in such specifications described, at the following prices,
to -wit: for furnishing all labor and material for and building such sew-
er, forty-five (45) cents per lineal foot; for one manhole, twentn-five
($25.00) dollars; for eight catch basins, fourteen (14.00) dollars each,
and for ten inch pipe connecting catch basins with sewer, forty cents
(404) per lineal foot; and it is hereby found And determined that the
prices hereby agreed to be said for such work and improvement aforesaid
are less than the estimated cost of the same heretofore made by the city
engineer of said city and now on file with the city clerk.
Sec. 4. The cost and expense of constructing such sewer, manhole
and catch basins shall be assessed against all lots and pieces of around
contained in the city of Salina as a Rewer district, as provided by Ord -
finance No. 618 of the ordinances of the city of Salina, Dassed and Approved
December 23, 1887, and the mayor and council are her-Aby authorized to
provide for the payment of the cost thereof by levying an assessment a-
gainst all the rAal estate in the city of Salina, at the time of making
the annual levy of taxes for the year 1914, in an amount sufficient to
pay the cost of such work and improvement; and the city clerk shall rarti-
fy said assessments to the county clerk of Saline county, Kansas, at the
same tir�ie and in the sale manner as other city taxes are certified.
Sec. 5. This ordinance shall take.effect and be in force from and
after its publication once in the Salina Evening Journal.

Be it ordained by the _ Mayor and Councilmen of the City of Salina:

dollars each, and for ten inch pipe connecting catch basins with sewer,
forty (40) cents- per lineal foot; and it. is hereby found and determined
that the prices hereby agreed to be paid for;such work and improvement'
aforesaid are less than the estimated post of the same her6ofore made
by the cityengineer' of said city and now on file with the city clerk.
Sec.. 4. The cost and expense of constructing such sewer, manhole
and catch basins shall be assessed against all lots and pieces of ground
contained in the city of Salina as a sewer .district, as provided by

Ordinance No. 618 of the :ordinances of the city of Salina., passed and
approved December 23, 1887, and the mayor and council are hereby
authorized to provide for the payment of the cost, thereof by levying
an assessment against all thereal estate .in the city of Salina, at the
time of making the annual levy of taxes for the year 1914, in an amount
sufficient to pay the ' cost, of such work and improvement; and the city
clerk. shall certify said assessments to the county clerk of Saline
county, Kansas, at the same time and in the same manner as other city
taxes are certified.
Sec. 5e This. ordinance shall take effect and be in force from
and after its publication once in the Salina Evening Journal.
