1781 Alley Improvements (Santa Fe & 7th)ORDINANCE -NO. -1781

An ordinance specifying and selecting the .material tote used and
letting the contract for the re' -paving of the alley between Santa Fe av-
enue and Seventh street from the soyth line of Iron avenue to the south
line of Lot No. 115 on Seventh street, and No. 1.16 on Santa Fe avenue,
in the city of Salina, Kansas.

WHEREAS, under the provisions of Ordinance No. 1777, of the city
of Salina, the mayor and council determined to re -pave the alley between
Santa Fe avenue and Seventh street, in said city, from the south line of
Iron avenue to the south line of Lot No. 115 on Seventh street and Lot
No. 116 on Santa Fe avenue; and,
WHEREAS, proposals for doing such re -paving of said alley have been
filed with the City Clerk, as provided in said Ordinance No. 1777, and
such proposals have been examined by the mayor and council, and the pro-
posal of Watts and Amerman is hereby found and determined to be the most
satisfactory and responsible proposal for the find and character of pav-
ing material and work hereinafter designated and selected; and,
WHEREAS, the cost or re -paving said alley under said proposal a-
foresaid does not exceed the estimated cost of the same as heretofore est-
imated and made by the city engineer of said city and now on file with
the City Clerk; therefore,

Be ordained by the Mayor and Councilmen of the City of Salina:
Section 1. That the mayor and council hereby determine that said
alley aforesaid, between the limits aforesaid, shall be re -paved with
concrete paving material, six (6) inches in thickness, as specified in
the specifications of the city engineer therefor filed by him with the
City Clerk on the 24th day of July, 1914, and which specifications are
hereby adopted and approved as and for the specifications for the re-pav-
Ing of said alley, and such concrete paving material is hereby selected
as the paving material for said alley.
Sec. 2. That a contract be and is hereby let to Watts and Amerman
for the re -paving of said alley between Santa Fe avenue and Seventh street
from the south line of Iron avenue to the south line of Lot No. 115 on
Seventh street and Lot No. 116 Santa Fe
on avenue, at and for the uniform
price of one and 25/100 Dollars ($1.25) per square yard, for the square
yards of such paving material actually laid and put in place on said all-
ey, including all labor necessary to properly lay and complete the same,
the same to be estimated by measurement by the city engineer of said city,
and all excavating shall be at the price of sixty cents.(60�) per cubic
yard.
Sec. 3. Such contract is awarded upon the express condition that
the work and improvement thus awarded shall be done -in strict accordance
with the said specifications of the city engineer therefor, which are
hereby made a part of this contract and ordinance.

Sec. 4. This ordinance -shall take effect and be in force from and
after its publication once in the'Salina Evaning Journal.
