1762 Sewer Improvement BondI I Pfd y ORDINANCE N0. 1762. _(Published in the Salina Evening Journal May2_,,g , 1914.) An ordinance providing for the issuance•of.sewer improvement bonds of the City of Salina, Kansas in the sum of $191100.00 Whereas, the mayor and council of the city of Salina have caused to be built and constructed certain sewers in said city, as providdd by Ordinances numbered 1730 and 1753., 1747 and 1755, the total contract price and cost of which is in excess of $'19,100.00; therefore, Be it ordianed by the Mayor and Councilmen of the City pf Salina: Section 1. That the cost of said sewers shall be payable in ten annual installments, instead of levying the entire tax for such cost at one time, the first installment to be paid with the taxes of 1914 and one installment with the taxes of each succeeding year until the whole sum is.paid; and that for such installments there shall be issued sewer improvement bonds of the city of Salina in the total sum of $19,100.00, as herein provided. Sec. 2. Said issue of bonds shall consist of eleven (11) bonds of the denomination of one thousand dollars (1,000) each and nine (9) bonds of the denomination of nine hundred dollars ($900) each; they shall be dated June 1, 1914, and payable as follows, viz: 2.,000.00 on June 1, 1915, and $1,990.00 on the first day of June in each year thereafter for nine years. Sec:: 3-:nc_`Sai:d bonds shall bear interest at the rate of five (5) per cent per annum from their date, payable semi-annually on the first days of June and December of each year, the first semi-annual install- ment of interest falling due December 1, 1914, and theseveral install- ments of interest shall be evidenced by coupons attached tosaid bonds, and both principal and interest shall be payable at the fiscal agency of the State of Kansas, in Topeka, Kansas. Sec. 4. Said bonds shall be signed by the Mayor and attested by the clerk of the city, and shall have the corporate seal of said city thereto, and said interest coupons shall be signed by the city clerk. Sec. 5. The mayor and clerk are hereby authorized and directed to prepare and execute, as ;soon as practicable, the said bonds herein provied for, therin pledging the credit of said city for the payment thereof, and when executed the said bonds shall be by the Mayor and Council sold, for not less than their par value, and out of the pro- ceeds thereof pay the cost ,of building and constructing such sewers aforesaid; and the mayor and council shall make provision annually for the payment of the principal and interest of said bonds, as the same -shall becone due, by levying an assessment on the property liable therefor.
