1756 Sidewalk Improvements - Highland Avenue79 I _ ORDINANCE NO. 1756. (Published in the Salina Evening Journal April 17 1914.) An ordinance providing for the construction of certain sidewalk in the city of Salina, Kansas. Be it ordained.by the Mayor and Councilmen of the City of Salina: Section 1. That the owner or owners of any and all real estate a- butting on the east side of Highland avenue rrom Jewell avenue to Kirwin avenue; on the north side of Cedar street from College avenue to Phillips street; on the west side of College avenue between South street and Morris- on avenue; on the north side of North street from Fifth street to Santa Fe avenue; on the north side of Iron avenue between the end of the present walk about 200 feet west of Ohio street east to Connecticut street, and on the south -side of Morrison avenue from Twelfth street west to connect with the present walk now on said side of said street; and part of Lot (5) Atherton's, Phillip's Addition, in the city of Salina, Kansas, are hereby required to construct or cause to be constructed on or before the 10th day of May 1914, a sidewalk in front of and adjacent to all the lots or parts of lots above described, said sidewalk to be -constructed of the material, width and in the manner specified and required by the provisions of Ord- inance No. 1038, of the printed ordinances of the city of Salina, which said ordinance No. 1038 is hereby incorporated in and made a part of this ordinance. See. 2. That the following described sidewalks be repaired and even- ed up and made fit for public use and .travel and, where necessary, raised above the parkings parallel therwith, viz: the sidewalks in front of Lots 119, and south half of 117, 1270 1292 131, 147, 149, 151 and 153 on Sev- enth street; Lots, 173, 175 and 177 on Eighth street; Lots 127, 135 and 137 on Fifth street; Lots 1, 2 and 3 on Ash .street, in University Addition; Lots 1 and 2 on Iron avenue, in Block (9), Oak Dale addition; and the side- walks on the south side of Charles street, between Ninth and Tenth streets; west side of Tenth street between Prescott avenue and Charles street, east side of Tenth street between Prescott avenue and Charles street; south side of Prescott avenue between Tenth and Eleventh streets, and the south and east sides of Lot (54), on Twelfth street, in Phillip's Second Addition; and the east side of Lots 14 and 16, Tenth street, Bishop's Addition. Sec. 3. That the committee of sidewalks of the city council shall, as soon as practicable after theEmid lotheday of May, 1914, cause such sidenalk as described in Sections One (1) and Two (2), hereof to be con- structed, repaired and raised up as herein provided -4i where.such owner or owners fail, neglect or r6fuse to build the same, as provided herein, and shall report their proceedings, together with the length and dimensions of the walk so constructed and repaired bysaid committee and the actual"ex- pense thereof to the city council. 1 1 1 1 See. 4. The expense of constructing said walk by said committee shall be assessed against the real estate abutting thereon according to the front foot thereof, and collected as other taxes against such real est- ate. st- ate. That the following described sidewalks be repaired and evened up and made fit for public use and travel and, where necessavy, raised above the parkings parallel therewith, viz: the sidewalks in front of Lots 119, the south half of 117, 127, 1292 131, 147, 1490 151, 153 on Seventh street; Lots 173, 175 and 177 on Eighth street; Lots 1272 135 and 137 on Fifth street; Lots 1, 2 and 3 on Ash street, in University Addition; Lots.l and 2 on Iron Avenue, in Block (9), Oak Dale addition; and the sidewalks on the south side of Charles street between Ninth and Tenth streets; west side of Tenth street between Prescott avenue and Charles street, east side of Tenth street between t Prescott and Charles; south side of Prescott avenue between Tenth and Eleventh streets, and the south and -.east sides of Lot (54), on Twelfth street, in Phillips Second Additiom; and east side of Lots 14 and 16, Tenth street, Bishop's Addition. Sec, 3..
