1753 Improve Ash StreetI PAY -- - -_- -- - - - - - - - - - - - - --- -- FtDINANCE : -NO:., -1753,- Published in the Salina Evening Journal March 21, 1914.) 1 1 1 1 1 An ordinance changing the character of material for the con- struction of the•Ash street sewer now being built in the city of Salina, allowing the contractor building such sewer for the difference in cost made by such change, and repealing so much of Ordinance No. 1736 as conflicts with the provisions of this ordinance. WHEREAS, on account of the character of the soil through which the Ash street sewer mentioned and described in Ordinance No. 1730 and 1736 -is now being built it is, in the judgment of the mayor and council and the contractor constructing such sewer, impossible to complete such sewer as a monolithic sewer. And, WHEREAS, it is necessary to change the construction of such sewer from a monolithic concrete sewer to vitrified pipe sewer; and, WHEREAS, said contractor is willing to make such change from a monolithic concrete sewer to 'a vitrified pipe sewer, under his contract with said city, upon payment to him by said city, of the additional difference between the cost of such vitrified pipe sewer and the price f -or which said contractor agreed to build such monolithic concrete sewer, wh=idh is hereby found and determined to be the sum of $1.30 per lineal foot. Therefore, Be it ordained by the Mayor and Councilmen of the City of Salina: Sectionl. That said contractor, Otto Peterson, is hereby author- ized and -directed to complete the present extension of the Ash street sewer, between the east side of the Smoky Hill River at or near Front street and a point about 500 feet west of the eastern terminus of said sewer as described in the specifications therefor, on said Ash street at or near Ohio street, with thirty-six (36) inch vitrified sewer pipe instead of Monolithic concrete, as originally provided for in the con- tract heretofore let to the said Otto Peterson. Sec. 2. That said Otto Peterson is hereby allowed, in addition to the price now allowed him under his present contract with said city for such monolithic conerete.sewer, the sum of $1.30 per lineal foot for making such change for the number of fddt of -such vitrified pipe sewer so to be constructed by,said Otto Peterson hereunder upon meas- urement to be made by the city engineer of said city; provided, however, that if in the future construction of such sewer it shall be determined by the mayor and council that it is practical to construct any port- ion of the same as a monolithic concrete sewer, and it is so construct- ed, then, and in that event, the prive to be paid by the said city to said Otto Peterson shall be the price of $3.40 per lineal foot. 7-3 74 Sec, 3. That so much of Ordinance. No. 1736 as may be in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance is.hereby repealed. Sec. 4.
