1698 Amending Ord 1521(Published in 6he Salina Evening Journal, December, 1912.) ORDINANCE NO.1698. An Ordinance amending Sections One '(1) and Two '(2) of Ordinance No. 1521' passed and approved October lhh,1909, and repealing such sections so amended. Be it ordained by the Mayor and. Councilmen of the city of. Salina: erection 1. That Section One (1) of Ordinance No.1521 be amended .so as to read as follows: It shall be'unlawful for any person to propel or run or cause to be propelled or run any automobile or motorcycle on the streets or thoroughfares or in the parks of the city of Salina without 'first registering with the city clerk of said city the name of the owner, keeper or person in control thereof, the name of the maker and, the manufacturer's number and the horse power of said automobile or motorcycle; and for that purpose the city clerk shall keepa suitable book or record and shall register therein by number in the order in which such registration is made the name of the owner, keeper or person in control of said automobile or motor- cycle, the name of the maker thereof, the manufacturer's number and .horse pourer thereof, and he shall.furnish to the person or persons so registering any automobile or motorcycle a certificate which shall show among other things the registration number of any such auto- mobile or motorcycle.. The fee to be paid such city clerk for the registration of any automobile or motorcycle hereunder shall be Two (:'2.00) Dollars and for such fee said clerk shall furnish to the per- sons so registering his automobile or motorcycle hereunder a number plate with the number or numbers thereon corresponding with the number or numbers shown in such ;.person's registration certificate, and. which number or numbers shall be separate Arabic numerals not . less than three (3) inches in height, and on.such.plate rind as a part thereof shall be attached the word Salina and the number of year corresponding to the year during which such license shall be in vogue, and such number Plato shall be conspicuously displayed upon the rear of th.e automobile or Motorcycle for which the same is issued by said. clerk as aforesaid. 80c. 2. That Section Two (2) of said Ordinance No.1521 shall be amended so as to read as follows: The registration certificate hereinbefore provided for shall be good for the calender year during which it is issued, and shall expire on the 31st day of December of each year. after which time it shall no longer be in force and a neer registration of said automobuke or motorcycle shall be required. for the next chlender year; and if at any time prior to the said 31st December of any year the ownership or control of any aut day of D .bmobilo or motorcycle shall pass to another party, then and in that case said, registration certificate shall no longer be in force but it shall be necessary to register said automobile or motorcycle again. Provided, however, that in all cases when any owner, keeper or person in control of any automobile or motorcycle re -registers his vehicle under the provisions of this ordinance.he shall return to said clerk his number plate for the expired year and in its place and stead said clerk shall furnish him with a new number plate for.such curret year and corresponding with the number of his license for such year; provided, further, that for any number plate so furnished to any such owner, 'keeper or. person in control of any automobile or motorcycle after the first year the price charged therefor shgll.be One ($1.00) Dollar. Sec. 3. That Section One (1) and Section Two (2) of Ordinance No41521 passed and approved October 18th,1909, and being an or- dinance entitled 01An Ordinance regulating the propelling and run- ning of automobiles in the city of Salina, requiring the registra- tion thereof and the payment of a registration fee, providing a penalty for violation theerof, and. repealing Ordinance No.1243 and all ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict with this or- dinance10, be and each of such original sections are hereby repealed. Sec. 4. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its publication once in the Salina Evening Journal. Passed and approved December 16th,1912. , Mayor Attest: Clerk
