RESOLUTION NUMBER 88-4030
A RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING THE CITY OF SALINA AN URBAN
WILDLIFE SANCTUARY AND APPOINTING THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND
RECREATION TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR URBAN WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT.
WHEREAS, the City of Salina, Kansas, is the owner of an unique
property, Lakewood Park, and
WHEREAS, Salina is fortunate to have an unique property such as
Lakewood Park to promote and develop, and
WHEREAS, Lakewood Park meets the criteria set by the National
Institute for Urban Wildlife for an Urban Wildlife Sanctuary, and
WHEREAS, there will be certain benefits to the City of Salina in
National and State recognition of its interest in maintaining a natural wildlife
habitat, and
WHEREAS, this recognition would further identify to the citizens of
Salina the value of promoting natural areas, SO NOW, THEREFORE
Kansas:
BE IT RESOLVED by the Governing Body of the City of Salina,
Section 1. That Lakewood Park is hereby proclaimed to be an Urban
Wildlife Sanctuary.
Section 2. The Department of Parks and Recreation is hereby
designated to, be responsible for the Urban Wildlife Management of Lakewood
Park.
Adopted by the Board of Commissioners and signed by the Mayor this
21st day of November, 1988.
