88-4000 Authorize Transportation GrantKaftn-Cox Printing — Salina, Kansas 1 5 1 RESOLUTION NUMBER 88-4000 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING APPLICATION FOR KANSAS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT GRANT FUNDS FOR THE SCHILLING ROAD / INTERSTATE 135 INTERCHANGE AND THE INTERSECTION OF SCHILLING ROAD AND NINTH STREET. WHEREAS, the State of Kansas, through its Department of Transportation is accepting applications for grant funding for the fifth and sixth year of its Economic Development Program; and WHEREAS, the City of Salina has identifie an important highway construction project which meets or exceeds the requirements for eligibility for construction funds from the Kansas Department of Transportation's Economic Development Fund; and WHEREAS, completion of this proposed project will have a significant impact on economic development of the surrounding area, including large numbers of existing industrial and commercial businesses, as well as removing a serious impediment to future development; and WHEREAS, this project is located partially within the Salina City Limits and also impacts greatly nearby retail, industrial and residential areas of the City, SO NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Governing Body of the City of Salina, Kansas: Section 1. Authorization of application. The City Manager is authorized to make application on behalf of the City of Salina for Economic Development Grant Funds for the years 1991 and 1992 for improvements and modifications to the Schilling Road / Interstate 135 Interchange and the intersection of Schilling Road and Ninth Street. Section 2. Joint application. Said application may be a joint application with the Salina Airport Authority and Saline County. Section 3. Project cost. The project cost is estimated at $2,100,000, with a proposed 67% State / ,33% Local share. The City hereby expresses ,its desire and willingness to share in providing the local matching funds in conjunction with the Salina Airport Authority and Saline County. Section 4. Effective date. This Resolution ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption. Adopted by the Board of Commissioners and signed by the Mayor this 22nd day of August, 1988.
