2295 Amending Ord 15667 I I H ORDINANCE, 1W. -2295 (Published,in The Salina Evening Journal November 1919) An ordinance amending Section one of Ordinance Number 15656, entitled, "An ordinance granting to Thos. H: Smith, his assigns and successors, the right to manufacture, distribute and sell electricity and gas for light, heat, power and other purposes in the City of Salina; to use and occupy the streets, alleys and public grounds of the said City for the erection and maintenance of poles, wires and conduits and for laying of the mains and pipes there- for; and contracting with said Thomas R. Smith his suc- cessors and assigns, for the lighting of the streets, public buildings and grounds of said C'ity; and repealing Ordinance iso. 1218, passed and approved March 8, 1904, and repaling Ordinance No. 1560 Passed and approved June 30, 1919" and repealing said original section. BE IT ORDAINED by the MlayOr and Councilmen of the City of Salina, Kansas': Section 1. That Section One of Ordinance No. 1566 be and the same is hereby amended to read as foll'ows: "Section 1. That the right to manufacture, distribute and sell electricity and ,',�Ias for light, heat, power and other purposes, in the city of Salina, Kansas, for the period of twenty :(20) years from the date Of the passageand publication of this ordinance, is hereby granted to Thomas R. Smith, his successors and assigns, designated esiGnated as the grantee." Section 2. That it is the Purpose and intent of this ordinance to.grant an extension Of the franchise created by Ordinance Number 1566, so that the same shall extend for a period of twenty (20) years from the date of this ordinance. All of the other terms and conditions Of Said Ordinance Number 1566 not being in any wise altered, modified or changed hereby." Section 3. This ordinance to be effective shall be ac - cepted by The Salina Li Wit, Po,rier & Gas Company, the assignee of the said Thomas R. Smith) within thirty (30) days from and after the passage and approval hereof by filing with the City Clerk of the city of Salina, Kansas, its acceptance in writing of all the terms, conditions and stipulations hereof. Section 4, That Section one of ordinance Number 1566 be and the same is hereby repealed. Section 5. This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from and after its publication for twenty days as required by the statute of the State of Kansas. Gentlemen: The Directors of The Salina Light, Power & Gas Company held a meeting on November 29th, 1919, and accepted the ex -- tension of their franchise by adopting the following reso- lut iii n: "That The Salina -Light, Power and Gas Company, which is the assignee of Thos. H. Smith, hereby accepts all the terms, conditions, and. stipulations included in the Ordinance #2295, passed by .the City -Council and approved by the Mayor. of the City of Salina on.November 3rd, 1919.
