2256 Regulating Soliciters31 OHDI11ANCE NO. 2256 (Published in The Salina Evening Journal May 1919) An ordinance relating to the regulating and conduct of hotel solicitors, hackmen, omnibus, peddlers, et al., also providing penalty for violations and repealing all conflicting ordinances. BE I`I' ORDAINED by the Mayor and Councilmen of the City of Salina': Section 1. It shall be unlawful for any hotel solici- tor or runner, autmobile driver, hackman or omnibusman, ped- dler or seller of any article of merchandise, or pePson in charge of any hack, automobile, carriage for hire or omnibus or any trespasser, loiterer or loafer to stand inside passeng- er depot or on platform thereof, or on private grounds con- tiguous ontiguous thereto, except in such places as designated by the Chief of Police and representative of the Railway Company, and then only for the purpose of receiving and delivering passengers or baggage, and they shall not harass or annoy any, person by their solicitations or shall they obstruct or interfere with the progress or movements of persons arriv- ing at or leaving depot or trains, nor shall they obstruct the sidewalk in the vicinity of such depot. Section 2. Any person or persons, violating any of the provisions of this ordinance, shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction be fined in the sum of not over One Hundred 0100.00) Dollars, or be imprisoned not to exceed thirty (30) days or both such fine and im- prisonment. Section 3. 411 ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with this ordinance, are hereby repealed.
