2361 Electric RatesORD INA NCE NO - 2361 (Published in The Salina Evening Journal November 1920) An ordinance establishing certain maximum rates and charges to be made for electric current and gas in the city of Salina., Kansas, and amending Sections 1 and 2 of Ordi nance Number 2201 entitled - "An ordinance fixing the maxi- mum charges to be made for electric current and gas in the City of Salina, Kansas, and letting the contract therefor," and repealing said orginal sections. BE IT ORDAINED by the Mayor and Councilmen of the City of Sa- lina, Kansas: Sect ign l.— That -ection 1 of Ordinance Number 2201 be - and the same is hereby amended to read as follows; "Section 1. That the Salina Light, Power & Gas Company, hereinafter called the- Company, may charge for electric cure ent furnished for residence lighting in the City of "Salina a maximum rate of not to exceed twelve cents (14) per kilowatt hour for the first twenty (20) kilowatts hours used per month; ten cents (10/,) per kilowatt hour for the next thirty (30) kilowatt hours thereof used per month and five (5� .) per kilowatt hours in ex - cess of fifty(50)thereof used per month,, as measured by meters of standard.make to be installed by and to remain 'the property of said Company; provided, that any customer of said company who makes .payment of his account on or before the 10th day of the month following that in which service is rendered and cur- rent used will be entitled to and shall receive from said Com- pany a discount of ten per cent of -the, gross amount of said bill for this service; and provided further that no monthly bill for residence lighting shall be less than one dollar ($1.00), subject also to ten per cent discount as hereinbefore set forth. Section 2. That the Company may charge for electric cur- rent furnished for commercial lighting in the City of Salina, a service or demand charge of not to exceed the sum of two CD dollars 02.00) per month for the first five amperds 110 volt of meter capacity together viith a further service charge of not to exceed one dollar ($1.00) per month for each addition- al ten am, peres 110 volt of meter capacity together with a con- sumption charge of not to exceed five and one-half cents (5ti(/) per kilowatt hour used per month as measured by meters of stan- dard make to be installed by and to remain the property of said Company; provided further, however, that should the service and consumption charge not be paid by any customer on or before the 10th day of the month following that in which such service is rendered and -current used then that the Company shall have the F 1 1 L1 1 1 I' - G 0 right to charge in addition thereto .and as a penalty for such non- payment ten per cent of the gross amount of said customer's accouri, for this service . _Section< -3, That said,Company may charge for electric cur- rent furnished for secondary power in the City of Salina a demand or service charge of not to exceed one dollar ($1.00) per month per horse power connected together with a consumption charge, of not to exceed the maximum rate of four cents (4¢) per kilowatt for the first five hundred (500) kilowatt hours used per month and not to exceed three cents (30 per kilowatt hour for all over five hundred (500) kilowatt hours used per month, as measured by meters ,of standard make to be installed by and to remain the property of said Company; provided, further, however that should the charge of such `service and current not be paid by any customer on or be- fore the 10th day of.the month following that in which said ser- vice is rendered and current used then that the company shall have the right to charge in addition thereto and as a penalty for such non-payment ten per cent of the gross amount of such customer's account for this service. Section 4. That Section 2 of Ordinance Number 2201 be and the same is hereby amended to read as -follows: "Section 4. That the Salina Light, Power & Gas Company may charge a maximum rate for artificial gas furnished for domestic purposes in the city of Salina of not not to exceed two dollars, ($2.00) per. one thousand cubic feet used per rnonth as me asured by meters of standard make to be installed by and to remain the pro- perty of said company; provided, however, that should t. -he account of any customer for gas used not be paid on or before the 10th day of the month following that in which the service is rendered then that said company shall have the right to add ten per cent as penal- ty for sych non-payment to the gross amount of such customers said bill for this service, but should said account be paid ori or prior to such date said customer shall be entitled to a five per cent discount thereon, and provided further that no monthly bill for gas shall be less than fifty cents (50 �) subject' also to the ten per cent penalty, or five per cent discount as hereinbefore set forth. 1 Section 5. That said maximum charges so fixed as aforesaid and said service and demand charges as hereinbefore provided for shall be in force and effect only until such time as the Mayor and Council of the City of Salina, Kansas, shall modify, chang3 or alter the same as provided for in Section 10 of Ordinance Number 1566 and the right is hereby expressly reserved fo the Mayor and Council of said City to modify, change or alter such maxim -Lim charges, and to chanige, modify, alter or entirely repeal said ser- vice and demand charges and to substitute consumption charges there- for and nothing herein contained shall be held to in any way re- strict the privilege reserved to the Mayor and Council of said City in Section 10 of Ordinance Number 1566, Section 3 of Ordinance Number 2201, or Section 2 of Ordinance Number 2295. Section 6. This ordinance shall take effect and be in- full force from and after its publication once in the official city paper. Passed and approved, November lst, 1920.
