2714 Improve Crawford Street430 An Ordinance specifying and selecting; the paving material to be used and letting a contract for the excavating, grading, curbing, guttering and paving of CRAWFORD AVENUE in the City of Salina, Kansas from the west line of Ninth Street to the west line.of Tenth Street,in said City. EE 1T ORDAiNED by the N3oard of Commissioners.of the City of Salina,. Kansas: Section 1. That it is hereby determined that CRAWFORD AVENUE in the City of Salina, t,.ansas from the west line.of Ninth Street to the west line of Tenth Street in said City.shall.be paved with one course vitrified vertical fiber plain wire cut brick, not less than three (3) inches deep, with:asphalt filler laid on a foundation of five (5) inches in depth of Portland Cement Concrete base with one (1) inch sand cushion, such pavement. -within the limits above defined to be thirty-six (36) feet inTwidth.excluding,curb and gutter. Section 2. That it is hereby determined that CRAWFORD EVENIUE in the City of Salina, Kansas from the west.line of Ninth Street to the west line. of Tenth Street in said, City shall be curbed and guttered with one (1) piece combination cement curb and gutter, said combined curb and gutter shall.be comprised of a curb six (6) inches thick at the top and six and one-half (62) inches thick at the throat, with gutter twenty-four (24) inches wide, six (6) inches thick at the throat and seven (7) inches thick next to the pavement. Section 3. All excavating,,filling and rolling necessary for the proper construction of such improvements shall be done and all of such improvements shall be made and done in strict conformity to and in compliance with the plans and specifications.heretofore made by the City Engineer of Salina, Kansas and now on file with the City Clerk of said City,,which plans and specifications are hereby incorporated in and made a part hereof in all respects as fully and completely as though written out at -length herein; which said plans and specifications are hereby adopted as and for the plans and specifications of such work and improvements. Section 4. That a contract is hereby a*arded to M. R. Amerman for the paving, curbing, guttering, excavating and filling the above mentioned street within the limits aforesaid.and with the materials hereinbefore specified, for the paving actually laid and put in place, for the labor actually performed and,the materials actually furnished at the following prices: For excavating and 1 1 1 CI 1 1 gradingventy'Cents;{70C) per cubic yard; for Portland Cement Concrete combined curb and gutter Eighty Cents (80�) per lineal foot, and for paving actually laid and„put_in.place Three and 18/100 -Dollars ($3.18) per square yarn... All..of said work shall be paid for according to the measurement..made.b.y the City Engin- eer of .the City of Salina. It is.f"ur_ther..de.termined andfound that the prices :to be paid for the, improvements as aforesaid is less than the estimated.prices.of each.and all of said im- provements as now on file.with.the City_.C.lerk,of, the City of Salina, Fansas . Section 5. Such contract is awarded upon the express con- dition that sueh.work and improvements shall be done in strict" accordance with and incompliance with.the,plans and speeificatinis of the City Engineer therefor., which.plans and specifications are hereby made a part.of this ordinance and of the.eontraet awarded, and upon further conditions"among others that the person to whom said contract is awarded shall furnish to the City of Salina a surety company bond in the approximate sum of the'cost of such improvements guaranteeing the prompt, proper and work- manlike construction of all the same together with a surety company bond guaranteeing such pavement against all defects in material and workmanship for a period of five (5) years from the date of -its completion and acceptance by said'City; and said contract is awarded upon a further condition that said lei. R. Amerman shall furnish the City of Salina a good and sufficient surety company bond guaranteeing said curb and gutter against all defects. for a period.of two ('2) years from the date of its com- pletion and acceptance of such work by the City; together with a good and sufficient surety company bond running to the.State of Kansas' in an amount approximately equal to the contract price of said improvernents and conditioned that said M. K: Amerman shall pay all indebtedness,for labor and material furnished in mkking the improvements provided for herein. Section 6. The Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina are hereby authorized to make and enter into on behalf of said City all written agreements necessary in order to secure the construction of the improvements herein provided for. BE IT ORDAINED' by the Board of Commissioners of the City. of Salina, Kansas: Section 1.
