An Ordinance specifying and selecting the paving material to be
used and letting_a contract for the excavating, grading,
curbing, guttering and paving of COLLEGE AVENUE in the
City of Salina, Kansas from the s.outh..line of Walnut
Street to the north line of.Spruce..Street in said City.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of.Commissioner.s..of the City of
Salina, Kansas:
Section I. That it is hereby determined that.COLLEGE AVENLE
in the City of Salina, 1iansas,frrom the south.line of.Walnut Street
to the north line of "Spruce..Street., in said ._Cit.y ..shall be paved.
with one -course vitrified.vert.ical.fiber plain wire out brick,
not less .than three (3) inches deep., with asphalt filler laid
on a foundation of five (5)_ inches .in_de.pth. of Portland Cement
'conbrete' _base with one (1) . inch. sand... cushion, such pavement
within the limits above defined to be thirty. -three (33) feet
in width excluding curb and gutter.
Section 2. That it is hereby.determined..that College -Avenue
in the City of Salina, Kansas from the..south..line of. -Walnut Street
to the north', line of Spruce ;Street.. in._._said. C.it.y_ shall be curbed!
and guttered with.one piece combination .cement.curb and gutter,
said combined'eurb and gutter shall be comprised of a curb six
(6) inches thick at the top and six and one. -half. (6 -,:t: -).inches thick
at the throat, with gutter twenty-four (24) inches wide, six (6)
inches thick at the throat and seven (7) inches.thick next to
the pavement.
Section 3. All excavating, filling and rolling necessary for
the proper construction of such improvements shall be done and ail
of such --improvements shall be made and done in strict conrormity
toand in compliance with the plans and specifications heretofore
made by the City Engineer of Salina, Kansas and now on file with
the, City Clerk of said City, which said plans and specifications
are hereby incorporated in.and made a part hereof in all respects
as fully and completely as though written out at length herein;
which said plans and specifications are hereby adopted as and for
the plans and specifications of such work and improvements.
Section 4. That a contract is hereby awarded to.Al. R.
Amerman, for the curbing, guttering, excavating, grading and
paving the above mentioned street in the limits aforesaid with
the materials hereinbefore specified, for the paving actually

laid and put in_place for the labor actually performed and the
materials hereinbefore specified,.at the following prices; For
excavating and grading, seventy cents (70�.) per cubic yard; for
Portland Cement -Concrete combined curb;and gutter Eighty.Cents
(800) per lineal foot and.for paving actually laid and put in
place Three and 18/100 Dollars (03.18) per square. yard. All of
said work shall be paid for according to.measurementimade by the
City Engineer of the City of;Salina,. Itis hereby.determined and.
found that the prices to be paid for the improvements as
aforesaid is less than the estimated: prices of each and all of
said improvements as now. on file., with _the_..C.it.y-Clerk of the City
of Salina, xansas.
Section_ 5. Such contract is awarded upon the - express co'n-
dition that such work and improvements.shall be.done in -strict
accordance with and in compliance with t.he.plans and specifications
of the City Engineer therefor, which plans.and specifications are
hereby made a part of this ordinance and. of the contract awarded,
and upon further conditions among others that.the persons to whom
said contract is awarded shall furnish to the City of Salina a
surety company bond in the approximate sum of the _cost of such
improvements guaranteeing the prompt, proper and workmanlike Icon-
struction of all the same together with a surety company bond
guaranteeing such pavement against all.defects in mate-rial and
workmanship_ for a period of five (5) years from the date of its
completion and acceptance by said Cit y; and said contract is awarded
upon a further condition that said m rson shall furnish the City
of Salina a good and sufficient surety company bond guaranteeing
said curb and gutter against all defects in material and workmanship
for a period of two (2) years from the date of its completion and
acceptance of such work by the City; together with a good and
sufficient surety company bond running to the State of Kansas in
an amount approximately equal't.o the contract price of said improve-
ments and.conditioned that said M. R. Amerman shall payall indeb-
tedness for labor and material furnished in the making improvements
provided for herein.
Section 6. The Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina
are hereby authorized to make and enter into on behalf of said City
All written agreements necessary in order- to secure the construction
of the improvements herein provided for.

full force from and after its publication once. in the official
City paper.

ORDINANCE NO. 2 713
An Ordinance specifying and selecting the paving material to be
used and letting a contract for the excavating, grading,
curbing, guttering and paving of College Avenue in the
City of Salina, Kansas from the South line of Walnut
Street to the north line of Spruce Street in said City.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Coimmissioners: of the City of
Salina, Kansas:
Section 1. That it is hereby determined that College Avenue
in the City of Salina, Kansas from the south line of Walnut Street
to the north line of Spruce Street in said City shall be paved
with one -course vitrified vertical fiber plain wire cut brick,
not less.than three (3) inches deep, with asphalt filler laid
on a foundation of five (5) inches in depth of Portland Cement
Concrete base with one (1) inch sand cushion, such pavement
within the limits above defined to be thirty-three (33) feet
in width excluding curb and gutter.
Section 2. That it is hereby determined that College Avenue
in the City of Salina, Kansas from the south line of Walnut Street
to the north line of Spruce Street in said City, shall be curbed
and guttered with one piece combination cement curb and gutter,
said combined curb and gutter shall be comprised of a curb six
(6) inches thick at the top and six and one-half (62) inches thick
at the throat, with gutter twenty-four (24) inches wide, six (6)'
inches thick at the throat and seven (7) inches thick next to
the pavement.
Section 3. All excavating, filling and rolling necessary for
the proper construction of such improvements shall be done and all
of such improvements shall be made and done in strict conformity
to and in compliance with the plans and specifications heretofore
made by the City Engineer of Salina, Kansas and now on file with
the City Clerk of said City, whish said plans and specifications

the materials hereinbefore specified, for the paving actually

materials actually furnished at the following prices: For exca-
vating and grading seventy cents (70�) per cubic yard; for Port-
land Cement Concrete combined curb and gutter Eighty cents (80¢x)
per lineal foot, and for paving actually. laid and put in place
Three and 18/100 Dollars ($3.18) per square yard. All of said
work shall be paid for�aecording to the measurement made by the
City Engineer of the City of Salina. It is hereby determined
and found that the prices to be paid for the improvements As
aforesaid is less than the estimated prices of each and all •of
said improvements as now on file with the City Clerk of the
City of Salina, Kansas.
Section 5. Such contract is awarded upon the express condition
that such work and improvements shall be done in strict accordance
with and in compliance with the plans and specifications of the
City Engineer therefor, which plans and specifications are hereby
made a part of this ordinance and of the contract awarded, and
upon further conditions among others that the persons to whom said
contract is awarded shall furnish to the City of Salina a surety
,company bond in the approximate sum of the cost of such improve-
ments guaranteeing the prompt, proper and workmanlike construction
of all b1le same together with a surety company bond guaranteeing
such pavement against all defects in material and workmanship for a
period of five (5) years from the date of its completion and accept-
ance by said City; and said contract is awarded upon a further
condition that said person:: shall furnish the City of Salina a good

and sufficient -surety company bond guaranteeing said curb and
gutter against all defects in material and workmanship for a
period of two (2) years from the date of its completion and
acceptance of such work by the City; together with a good.and
sufficient surety company bond running to the State of. Kansas in

ments and conditioned that said R. Amerman shall pay all in-
debtedness for labor and material furnished in making the improve-
ments provided for herein. -
