An ordinance_specifying:and_sele.et.ing_the..paving material

COLLEUE..AVENUE- in .the City. of _Salina, Kansas from
the north -line of -Spruce Street.to the.north.line
of South Street in -said City.
BE IT ORDAINED. by the Board of Commission.ers..of..the. City.. of
Salina,,_Kansas:
Section _1. That it .. is hereby _de_ter..mined .that
C CLLEGE AVENUE., in. the. City of. Salina.,_. Kansas.,- from, the north
line of Spruce Street. to the north_.line.. of._S.outh_ Street in
said City shall_be paved with.one-cour_se..vit.fir..ied_fibet
plain wire out brick.not less than_three..(3) inches deep,
with asphalt filler.laid on a.foundation.of.five..(5)
inches in depth..of Portland.Cement._C.oncrete..b.ase..with_one
(1) inch sand cushion, such.pavement..within._the_limits
above defined..to. be thirty --three . (.33) ... fe_e.t. in .width
eneluding curb and gutter.
Section.2. That it is`.hereby determined.that
COLLEGE AVE14UE in the.City.of Salina., Kansas.. from the
north line of Spruce Street to the_ north .l.ine., of South
Street in said City, shall. be curbed_ and gutter..ed with
one piece combination cement curb and: gutter., said .-combined
curb and gutter shall be comprised of a*curb.six (6)
inches thick at the top and six and.one-half.(62) inches
thick at the throat, with gutter twenty-four
_.(24) inches
wide, six (6) inches thick at the throat_and..s..even (7)
inches thick next to the pavement.
Section.3.. A11.excavating.,._filling.and rolling
necessary for the proper construction of such.improvements
shall be done and all of such improvements.shall_.be made
and done in stricy conformity to and in eomplianse with the
plans and specifications heretofore made.by the City Engineer
of Galina, Kansas and now on file with the City Clerk of
said City, which plans and specifications are hereby in-
corporated in and made a part hereof in,all.respeets as
fully and completely as though written out at.length.,herein;
which said plans -and specifications are hereby..adopted as
and for the plans and specifications of said work and im-
provements.
Section 4. That a contract is hereby awarded to
M. R. Ammerman for the paving, curbing, guttering, excavating,
filling and grading the above mentioned street in the limits

actually laid and put .in. place.,. for. the., labor- actually .performed

improvements guaranteeing the prompt,.proper. and.workmanlike con-
struction of all the same, together with..a surety-compahy bond
running to the City, guaranteeing s ueh pavement agains.t.all de-
fects in material and workmanship fora period o.f_.five. (5) years
from the date of its completion and ac-ceptance by.;said_City; and
said contract is awarded upon a further.condition.that.said M. R.
Amerman shall furnish the. City of Salina a good and sufficient
surety company bond guaranteeing said curb and gutter against all
defects in material and workmanship for a period.o.f .two (2) years
from the date of its completion and acceptance of..such work by the
City; together with a good and -sufficient surety company bond
running to the State of Kansas in an amount approximately equal
to the contract price of said improvements and conditioned that said
M. R. Amerman shall pay all indebtedness for labor and material
furnished in making the improvements -provided for herein.

Salina are hereby authorized to make.and enter into on behfla of
said City all written agreements necessary in order to secure the

An Ordinance specifying and selecting the paving material to be
used and letting a contract for the excavating, grading,
curbing, guttering and paving of College Avenue in the
City of Salina, Kansas from the north line of Spruce
Street to the north line of .South Street in said City.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of
Salina, Kansas:
Section 1. That it is hereby determined that College Aoenue
in the ,City of Salina, Kansas from the north line of Spruce Street
to the north line of South Street in said City shall be paved
with one -course vitrified vertical fiber plain wire cut brick,
not less than three (3) inches deep, with asphalt filler laid
on a foundation of five (5) inches in depth of Portland Cement
Concrete base with one (1) inch sand cushion, such pavement
within the limits above defined to be thirty-three (33) feet in
width excluding curb and gutter.
Section 2. That it is hereby determined that College Avenue
in the City of Salina, Kansas from the north line of Spruce Street
to the north line of South Street in said City, shall be curbed
and guttered with one piece combination cement curb and gutter,
said combined curb and gutter shall be comprised -of a curb six
(6) inches thick at the top and six and one-half (62) inches thick
at the throat, with gutter twenty-four (24) inches wide, six (6)
inches thick at the throat and seven (7) inches thick next to
the pavement.
Section 3. All excavating, filling and rolling necessary for
the proper construction of such improvements shall be done and all
of such improvements shall be made and done in strict conformity
to and in .compliance with the plans and specifications heretofore
made by the City Engineer of Salina, Kansas and nom on file with
the -City Clerk of said City, which plans and specifications are
hereby incorporated in and made a part hereof in all respects
as fully and completely as though written out at length herein;

which said plans and specifications are hereby adopted as and
for the plans and specifications of such work and improvements.
Section 4. That a contract is hereby awarded to M. R. Amer-
man for the paving, curbing, guttering, excavating and filling
the above mentioned street in the limits aforesaid with the materials
hereinbefore specified, for the paving actually laid and put in place
for the labor actually performed and the materials actually furnished
at the following prices: For excavating and grading seventy cents
(70�) per cubic yard; for Portland Cement Concrete combined curb
and gutter Eighty cents (80�) per lineal foot, and for paving
actually laid and put in place Three and 18/100 Dollars ($3.18)
per square yard. All of said work shall be paid for according to
the measurement made by the City Engineer of the City of Salina.
It is hereby determined and found that the prices to be paid for
the improvements as aforesaid less than the estimated prices of each
and all of said improvements as now on file with the City Clerk of
the City' of Salina, Kansas
Section 5. Such contract is awarded upon the express condi-
tion that such work and improvements shall be done in strict accord-
ance with and in complianse with the plans and specifications of the
City Engineer therefor, which plans and specifications are hereby
made a part of this ordinance and of the contract.awarded, and
upon further conditions among others that the person to whom said
contract is awarded shall furnish to the City of Salina a surety
company bond in the approximate sum of the cost of such improve-
ments guaranteeing the prompt, proper and workmanlike construction
of all the same together with a surety company bond guaranteeing
such pavement against all defefts in material and workmanship for a -
period of five (5) years from the date of its completion and accept-
ance by said City; and said contract is awarded upon a further
condition that said M. R. Amerman shall furnish the City of Salina
a good and sufficient surety company bond guaranteeing said curb
and gutter against all defects in material and ,�iorkmanship for a
period of two (2) years from the date of its completion and
acceptance of such work by the City; together with a good and
sufficient surety company bond running to the State of Kansas in
an amount approximately equal to the contract price of said
improvements and conditioned that said M. R. Amerman shall pay all
indebtedness for labor and material furnished.in making the im-
provements provided for herein.
Section 6. The Board of CorimZissioners of the City of Salina
are hereby authorized to make and enter into on behalf of said
City all written agreements necessary in order to secure the
construction of the improvements herein provided for.
Section 7. This ordinance shall take effect and be in
full force from and after its publication once in the official
City paper.
