An Ordinance providing for the condemnation and appropriation
of certain lots, tracts and pieces -of ground in the
City of Salina, Kansas for the purpose of opening
Sherman Street in -said City from the south line of
Uawford Street to the north line of Republic Aven-
ue therein and providing for the appointment of ap-
praisers therefor.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of
Salina, Kansas:
Section 1.
That it is necessary that there should be
appropriated and condemned and there is hereby appropriated
and condemned for the purpose of opening Sherman Street in -
the City of Salina, Kansas, from the south line of Crawford
Street to the north line of Republic Avenue therein, said
street when so opened to be known as Sherman Street, the fol-
lowing described lots, tracts and pieces of ground to -wit:
The West 30 feet of Blocks 6, 71 9, 12; 15
and 16 in Surveyors Plat Number 10 in the
City of Salina, Saline County, Kansas ac-
cording to the recorded plat thereof, except
so mcuh thereof as shall have been hereto-
fore or otherwise appropriated and dondemned
for the opening, extending or widening of
any other street or streets in said City.
Section 2. That the Board of Commissioners shall ap-
point three disinterested appraisers and householders to
assess the damage and benefits caused by the'appropriation
and condemnation of such lots and pieces of ground and who
shall ascertain the -actual value of the land so taken without
reference to the projected improvements, and the actual damage
done to all other property thereby; for the payment of such
valuation and damages, the appraisers shall. assess against
the City the amount of benefit to the public generally by
reason of the proposed improvement and the remainder of such
amounts shall be assessed against the property within the
benefit district to be created which, in the opinion of the
appraisers, shall be especially benefited by the proposed
improvement. Such appraisers shall make due report in writ-
ing of their proceedings to the Board of Commissioners.
Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect and be
in full force from and after its publication once in the
official City paper.

An Ordinance providing for the condemnation and appropriation

and condemned for the purpose of opening Sherman Street in the
City of Salina, •Kansas , from the south line of Crawford Street
to the north line of Republic Avenue therein, said street when
so opened to be known as Sherman Street, the following described
lots, tracts and pieces of ground, to -wit:

and 16 in Surveyors Plat Number 10 in the
City of Salina, Saline County, Kansas ac-
cording to the recorded plat thereof, except
so much thereof as shall have been hereto-
fore or otherwise appropriated and condemned
for,the opening, extending or widening of
any other.street or streets in said City.
Section 2. That the Board,of Commissioners shall appoint
three disinterested appraisers and householders to assess the
damage and benefits caused by the appropriation and condemna-
tion of such lots and pieces of ground and who shall ascertain
the actual value of the land so taken.without reference to the
projected improvements, and the actual damage done to all other
property thereby; for the payment of such valuation and damages,
the appraisers shall assess against the City the amount of bene-
fit to the public generally by reason of the proposed.improvement
and the'.remainder. of such amounts shall be assessed against the
property within the benefit district to be created which, in
the opinion of the appraisers, shall be especially benefited by
the proposed improvement. Such appraisers shall make due report
in writing of their proceedings to the Board of Commissioners.
Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect and be
in full farce from and after its publication once in the
official City paper. R_
