2624 Widening Republic Ave------- - - - - - - --- — ---- -- ORDINANCE NO. 2624. (Published in Salina Evening Journal December gL, 1922) An Ordinance providing for -the condemnation and appropria- tion of'certain lots, tracts and pieces of ground in the City of Salina, _ Kansas, for the purpose of widen- ing Republic Avenue in said City -between Ninth Street And Sherman Avenue therein, and providing for the ap- pointment of appraisers therefor. BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas: Section 1. That it is necessary a that there should be appropriated and condemned and there is hereby appropriated and condemned for the purpose of widening Republic Avenue be- tween Ninth Street and Sherman Avenue in the City of Salina, Kans as, the following described lots, tracts and pieces of ground, to -grit: All of that part of Blocks 16 and 17 -in Surveyors Plat Number 10 in the City of Salina, Saline County Kansas according to the recorded plat thereof, ly- ing, south of the north line of Republic Avenue -in the Southern Heights Addition in Saline County, Kansas as now platted and of record -in the office, of the Register of Deeds in said County and State, extended east to Ninth Street in the City of Salina, Kansas, except such portion of said lots, tracts and pieces of ground as shall -have -been heretofore, or otherwise taken for the opening, extending or widening of Tenth Street, Eleventh Street and Sher- man Street in said City. Section 2. The Board of Commissioners shall appoint three disinterested appraisers and householders to assess the damage and benefits caused by -the appropriation and condem- nation of such lots and pieces of ground and who shall ascer- tain the actual value of the land so taken without reference to the projected improvement, and the actual damage done to all other property thereby; for the payment of such valuation and damages, the appraisers shall assess against the City the amount of benefit to the rzzblic generally by reason of the proposed improvement and the remainder of such amounts shall be assessed against the property within the benefit.district to be created which, in the opinion of the appraisers shall be especially benefited by the proposedimprovement. Such appraisers shall make due report in writing of their, proceed- ings to the Board of Commissioners. Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from and after its publication once in the of- ficial City paper. Introduced for first reading, November 20th, 1922.. City between Ninth Street and Sherman Avenue therein, and pro- viding for the appointment of appraisers therefor. BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas. Section l.: That it is necessary that there should be appro- priated and condemned and there is hereby appropriated and condemned for the purpose of wideningf Republic Avenue between Ninth Street and Sherman Avenue in the City of Salina,. Kansas, the following described lots, tracts and pieces of ground, to -wit; All of that part of Blocks Sixteen (16) and Seventeen '(17) in Surveyors Plat 'Number Ten (10) in the City of Salina, Saline County, Kansas according to the recorded plat thereof, lying south:.ofr.the north line of Republic Avenue.in the Southern Heights Addition in Saline County,- Kansas as now platted and of record in the office of the Register of Deeds in said County and State, extend- ed east -to Ninth Street in the City of Salina, 'Kansas, except su6ij portion of said lots, tracts and. pieces of ground as shall have been heretofore or otherwise taken for the opening, extending or widening of Tenth Street, Eleventh Street and Sherman Street in said City.
