An ,Ordinance relating to and, apportioning and levying special
assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the
City ,of Salina, Kansas to pay the cost of curbing, gut-
tering, excavating, grading and paving Crawford Avenue
in said City from the west line of FiftTT Streeto the
east line of Santa Fe Avenue in said City, and relating
to and providing for the collection and payment of such
assessments.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina:
Section 1. • For the purpose of paying the cost of curbing,
guttering, excavating, grading and paving Crawford Avenue in the City
of Salina, Kansas from the west line of Fifth Street to the east
line of Santa Fe Avenue in said City; there are hereby levied and
assessed on, -the property liable therefor, being all the lots and piec-
es of ground lying on either side of said Crawford Avenue for the dis-
tance improved as aforesaid to the center of the block on either side
thereof; according to the appraised value of such lots and pieces of

ground, without regard to the'buildings or improvements thereon'
speciall assessments covering the cost of such work and improvements,
said special assessments being based on the special: valuation and
appraisement of said lots and pieces of ground heretofore made by
three disinterested appraisers -appointed by the Board of Coma.iissioners of
the City of Salina, Kansas, which said appraisement is hereby referred
to and made a part of this ordinance, and the several amounts levied,
apportioned and assessed against each of said lots and pieces of ground
for the purpose aforesaid are hereby found and determined to be as
follows :

Section 2. Said amounts levied, ap,,ortioned and assessed
aforesaid, shall be due and collectible in ten (10) equal install-
ments, the first becoming due with th e taxes levied for the
year_ 1922, and one 'of sa.id installments falling due each and every
year thereafter until. all are paid, and all to be collected with
interest.as in this ordinance provided; PROVIDED, that the Owner
of any piece of property liable for any such special assessment
may redeem his property from such liability by paying into the
City 'Treasury the entire amount chargeable against the same as in
this ordinance designated, at any tune within thirty (30) days
after. the ;_publication of this ordinance and before the issuance
of the bonds of said City in payment of the balance of the cost
of said 'improvements, and his property so paid on shall not -there-
after be liable for any further assessments for the cost of said
improvements, nor for any part of said bonds.
Section 3. There is hereby further levied and assessed
a;ainst each lot and piece of ground described in this ordinance
six (6) per cent interest per annum on all of s_�_id installments
therein mentioned from the cute of the bonds which may be issued
at the end of thirty (30) days as specified in the preceding
section hereof, as by law provided, to the tirre of col -section of
the last of said installments as provided by law, which said
interest shall be collected annually at the sane time and in the
sante manner as said _nstallments are collected; and after the
taking effect of this ordinance, it shall t)e the duty of the City
Clerk of said City to annually at the same time other taxes are
certified, and until all of said assessments so apportioned and
levied herein have been certified, to certify to the County Clerk

of Saline County, Kansas a full list of all'property liable to
assessment and taxation for such wore and improverient, except
such property on wnich the special assessments aforesaid have been
paid in full, as hereinbefore provided, together with the respec-
tive amounts due on each of such lots and pieces of ground, which

amounts shall include the .annual installments of such special
assessments together .with the interest for one ,year at the rate of
.six (6) .per cent per -annum,, on .all unpaid balances of such assess-
ments at the beginning of such year, aforesaid, and such amounts
so. certified as herein provided, shall be placed upon the tax roll
by the. -County Clerk of Saline County, Kansas, and collected as
all other taxes are. collected.
Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect and be in
full force from and after its publication once in the official
City paper.

An Ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special
assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the.
City of Salina, Kansas to pay the cost of curbing, gut-

Section 2. Said amounts levied, apportioned and assessed
aforesaid, shall be due and collectible in ten (10) equal install-
ments, the first becoming due with the taxes levied for the year
1022, and one of said installments falling due each and every year
thereafter until all are paid, and all to be collected with inter-
est as in this ordinance provided; PROVIDED, that the owner of any
piece of property liable for any such special assessment may re-
deem his property from such liability by paying into the City
Treasury the entire amount chargeable aga nsit the sante as in
this ordinance designated, at any time within thirty (30) days
after.the publication of this ordinance and before the issuance
of 'the bonds of said City in payment of the balance of the cost
of said improvements; and his property so paid on shall not there-
after be liable for any further assessments for the cost of said
i,-rlprovements, nor for any part of said bonds.
Section 3. There is hereby further levied and assessed
against each lot and piece of ground described in this ordinance
six (6) per cent interest per annum on all of said installments
therein mentioned from the date of the bond.s.which may be issued
at the endof thirty (30) days as specified in the preceding sec-
tion hereof, as by lair provided, to the time of collection of the
last of said installments as provided by law, which said interest
shall be collected annually at the same time and in the same manner
sa said installments are collected; and after the taking effect of
this ordinance, it shall be the duty of the City Clerk of said City
to annually, at the same time other taxes are certified, and
until all of said assessments so apportioned and levied herein
have.been certified, to certify to the County Clerk of Saline
County, Kansas a full list of all property liable to assessment
and taxation for such work and improvement,, except such property
on which the special assessments aforesaid have been paid in full,
as hereinbefore provided, together with the respective amounts due
on each of such lots and peices of ground, which amounts shall in-

elude the annual installments of such special assessments together
with the interest for one year at the rate of six (6) per cent
per annum,.on all unpdLid balances of such assessments at the
beginning of such year as aforesaid, and such amounts so certified
as: -.herein provided, shall be placed upon the tax roll by the
County Clerk of Saline County Kansas, and collected as all other
taxes are collected.
Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect and be,in
full force from and after its publication once in the official
2Lity paper.
