An Ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying.special
assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in
the City of Sal,ir.a, Kansas to pay the cost of curbing,
guttering, excavating, grading and paving Bond Street
in said City -from the gest line of Fifth S Feet to_ -he
east line of Santa Fe Avenue in said City, and re-
lating to'and providing for the collection and payment
of such assessments.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina
Section 1. For.the`purpose of paying the cost of curbing,
guttering, excavating, grading'an d paving Bond Street in the City
of Salina, Kansas, from the west line of Fifth Street to the east
line of Santa Fe Ivenue in said City, there, -are hereby levied
and assessed on the property liable therefor, being all the
lots and pieces of ground lying on either side of said Bond
Street for the distance improved as aforesaid to the center of
the block on either side thereof, according to the appraised.val-
tie of such lots and pieces of ground without regard to the build-
ings or improvements thereon, special assessments covering the
cost of such work and in-provements; said special assessments be -
1 ing based on' -the special valuation and appraisement of said lots
and pieces of ground heretofore made by three disinterested apprai-
sers appointed by.the Board of Commissioners of'the City of Sal-
ina, Kansas, which said appraisement is hereby referred to and made
a part of this`ord_inance, and the several amounts levied, appor-
tioned and assessed against each of said lots and pieces of ground
for the purpose aforesaid are hereby found and deterri <.ned to be
as follows;.

Section 2. Said amounts levied, apportioned and assessed
aforesaid, shall be due and eolleeti.ble in ten (10) equal install-

thereafter until all are paid, and all to be collected with interest
as in this ordinance provided, PRUVIDED, that the owner of any pieoo
of priperty liable for any such special assessment may redeem his
property from such liability by paying into the City Treasury the
entire amount chargeable agAinst the same as in this ordinance desig-
nated, at any time within thirty (30) days after the publication of this
ordinance and before the issuance of the bonds of said City in payment.

so paid on shall not thereafter be liable for any further assessments
for the cost of said improvements, nor for any part of said bonds.
Section 3. There is hereby further levied and assessed a-.
gainst each lot and piece of ground described in.this ordinance six
per cent interest per auuum on.all of said installments therein men-
tioned,
from the
date of the bonds which may be issued
at the
end
of
thirty
(30) days
as specified in the.preceding section
hereof,
as
by
law provided, '.to the time of collection of the last of said install-
ments as provided by law, which said interest shall be collected ann®
ually at -the same time and in -the same manner as said installments are
collected; and after thetakin€I; effect of this ordinance, it shall be
the duty of the City Clerk of said City to annually, at the same time
other taxes are certified, and until all of said assessments so appor-
tioned and levied herein have been certified to certify to the County
clerk of. Saline County, nansas a full list of all property liable to
assessrAent and taxation for such work and improvement, except such
property on which the special assessments aforesaid have been paid in

full as hereinbefore provided, together with the resp6ctive amounts
due on each of such lots and pieces of ground, which amounts shall
include the annual installments of such special assessments togetla-
er with the interest for one year at the rate of six (6) per cent
per annum on all unpaid balances of such assessments at the begin-
ning of each such year as aforesaid, and such amounts so certified
as herein provided shall be -placed upon the tax roll by the County
Clerk of Salina County, Kansas and collected as all other taxes
are collected.
Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect and be 'in
full force from and after 'its publication once in the official
City paper.

ORDINANCE NO.
An Ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special
assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the
City of Salina, Kansas to pay the cost of curbing, gut
tering, exeavating,-grading and paving Bond Street in
said City from the west line of Fifth Street to the east
line of Santa Fe Avenue in said City, and relating to
and providing for the collection and payment of such
assessments.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina:
Section 1. For the purpose of paying the cost of curbing,
guttering, excavating, grading and paving Bond Street in the
City of Salina, Kansas from the west line of Fifth Street to the
east line of Santa Fe Avenue in said City, there are hereby lev-
ied and assessed on the property liable therefor, being all the,
lots and pieces of ground lying on either side of said Bond
Street for the distance improved as aforesaid to the center of
the block on either side thereof, according to the appraised value
of such lots and pieces of ground, without regard to the buildings
or improvements thereon, special assessments covering the cost
of such work and improvements; said special assessments being
based on the special valuation and appraisement of said lots and
pieces of ground heretofore made by three disinterested apprais-
ers appointed by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina,
Kansas, which said appraisement is hereby referred to and made a
part of this ordinance, and the several amounts levied, apportioned
and asmssed against each of said lots and pieces of ground for
the purpose aforesaid are hereby found and determined to be as
follows:

Section 2. Said amounts.levied, apportioned and assessed
aforesaid, shall be due and colldetible in ten (10) equal install-
ments, the first becoming due with the taxes levied for the year
10222' and one of said installments falling due each and every year
thereafter until all are paid, and all to be collected with interest
as in this ordinance provided; .tROVIDED, that the owner of any
piece of property liable for any such special assessment may re-
deem his property from such liability by paying into the City Treasury
the entire amount chargeable against the same as inthis ordinance
designated, at any time within thirty (30) days after the publication
of this ordinance and before the issuance of the bonds of said City
in payment of the balance of the cost of said improvements, and his
property so paid on sha.1.1 not thereafter be liable for any further
assessments for the cost of said improvements, nor for any part of
said bonds.
Section 3. There is hereby further levied and assessed
against each lot and piece of ground described in this ordinance six
(6) per cent interest per annum on all of said installments therein
mentioned from the date of the bonds which may be issued at the end
of thirty'(30) days as specified in the preceding section hereof, as
by law provided, to the time of collection of the last of said install-
ments as provided by law, which said interest shall be collected
annually at the same time and in the same manner as .said installments
are collected; and after the taking effect of this ordinance, it shall
be the duty of the City Clergy of said City to annually, at the same time
other taxes are certified, and until all of said assessments so apportion-
ed and levied herein have been certified, to certify to the County Clerk
of said Saline County., Kansas a full list of all property liable to
assessment and taxation for such work and improvement, except such
property on which the special assessments aforesaid have been paid in
full as hereinbefore provided, together with the respective amounts due
on each of such lots and
pieces of ground, which amounts shall include
the annual installments of such special Assessmei nts together with the
interest for one year at the rate of six (6) per cent per annum,
on all unpaid balances of such assessments at the beginning of
each such year as aforesaid, and such ar.ounts so certified as
herein provided shall be placed upon the tax roll by the County
Clerk of Saline County, Kansas and collected as all other taxes
are collected.
Section 4o This ordinance shall take effect and be in
full force from and after its publication once in the official
City paper.
