ORDINANCE NO. 2536 a,,_
An Ordinance relating to and apf)ortioning and levying special'
assessments on certain lots'and pieces of ground in the
City of Salina, Kansas, to pay the cost of curbing,
guttering, excavating and paving REPUBLIC AVENUE in said
City from the west line of Santa Fe to the east -line of
Highland in said City, and relating to and providing
for the collection and payment of such assessments.
BE 1T ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of
Salina, Kansas:
Section 1. For the purpose of paying the cost of.curbing,
buttering, excavating and paving nepublic Avenue in the City of
Salina, Kansas from the west line of Santa Fe Avenue to the
east line of Highland Avenue in said City, there are hereby lev-
ied, and assessed on the property liable therefor, being all the
lots and pieces of ground lying.on either side of said Republic.
Avenue for the distance improved as aforesaid to the center of
the block on'b ither side thereof, according to the appraised
value of such lot's and pieces:of'::1gr>ound, without regard to the
buildings or improvements thereon, special assessments covering
the cost of such work and improvements; said special assessments
being based on the special valuation and appraisement of said lots
and pieces of ground heretofore made by three disinterested
apprai_sers'appoi-).ted by the Board of Commmissioners of the City
of Salina; Kansas, which said appraisement is hereby referred to
and made a part of this ordinance, and the several amounts levied
apportioned and assessed against each of said lots and pieces of
ground for the purpose aforesaid are hereby found and determined
to be asfollows;

Section 2. Said amounts levied, apportioned and assessed
aforesaid, shall be due and collectible in ten (10) equal install-
ments, the first becoming due with the taxes levied for the year
1922, and one of said installments falling due each and every
year thereafter until all are paid, and all to be collected with
interest as in this ordinance provided; PROVIDED, that the owner
of any piece of property liable for any such spee-ial assessment
may redeem his property from such liability by paying into the
City Treasury the entire amount chargeable against the same as
in this ordinance designated, at any time within thirty (30)
days after the publication of this ordinance and before the issu-
ance of the bonds of said City,in payment of the balance of the
cost of said
improvements, and his property so paid
on shall
not
thereafter be
liable for any further assessments for
the cost
of said
improvements, nor for any part of said bonds.
Section 3.
There is hereby further levied and assessed
against each lot and,piece of ground described in this ordinance
six per cent (6J) interest per annum on all of said installments
therein mentioned from the date of the bonds which may be issued
at the end of thirty days as specified in the preceding section
hereof, as by law provided, to the time of collection of the last of
said installments as provided by law,'which said interest
shall be collected annually at the .sane time and in the same manner
as said installments are collected;,and after the taking -effect of
this ordinance it shall be the duty of the City Clerk of said
City to annually at the same time other taxes are certified, and until
all of said assessments so apportioned and levied hereinhave been
certified, to certify to the County Clerk of Saline.County, Kansas
a full list of all property liable to assessment and taxation for
such work and improvement, except such property on which the special
assessments aforesaid have been paid in full, as hereinbefore

provided, together with the respective amounts due on each of such
lots and pieces of ground, which amounts shall include the
annual'. installments of such special assessments together with
the interest for one year at the rate of six (6) per cent
per annum, on all unpaid balances of such assessments at the be-
ginning of each such year as aforesaid, and such amounts so
certified as herein provided, shall be placed upon the tax roll
by the County Clerk of Salina County, Kansas and collected as
x.11 other taxes are collected.
Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect and be in
full force from and -after its publication once in the official
City paperi

An Ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special
assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the
City of Salina, Kansas, to pay the cost of curbing, gutter-
ing, excavating and paving Republic Avenue in said City
- from the- was t:. -line of Santa Fe Avenue to' -The east line
of Highland Avenue in said City, and relating to and
providing for the collection and payment of such assess-
ments.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of .the City of Salina:
Section 1. For the purpose of paying the cost,of.curbing,
guttering, excavating and paving Republic Avenue in the City of
Salina, Kansas from the west line of Santa Fe Avenue,to the east
line of Highland Avenue in said City, there are hereby levied
and assessed on the property liable therefor,,being all the lots
and pieces of ground lying on either side of said Republic Avenue
for the distance improved as aforesaid to the center of the block
on either side .thereof, according to' the appraised value of such
lots and pieces of ground, without regard to the buildings or im-
provements thereon, special assessments covering the cost of such
work arid improvements; said special assessments being based on the
special valuation and appraisement of said lots and pieces of ground
heretofore made by three disinterested appraisers appointed by the
Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas, which said
appraisement is hereby referred to and made a part of this ordi-
nance, and the several amounts levied, apportioned and assessed
against each of said.lots and pieces of ground for the purpose
,aforesaid are hereby found and determined to be as follows:

Section 2.' Said amounts levied, apportioned and assessed
aforesaid, shall be due and eollectible'in ten (10) equal install-

against eash lot and piece of ground described in this ordinance
six per eent'(6%) interest per annum on all of said installments
therein mentioned from the date of the bonds which may be issued
at the end of thirty days as specified in the preceding section
hereof, as by law provided, to the time of collection of the
last of said installments as provided by law, which said interest
shall be collected annually at the same time'and in the same manner
as said installments are collected; and after the taking effect
of this ordinance, it shall be the duty of the City Clerk of said
City to annually at the same time other taxes are certified, and until
all of said assessments so apportioned and levied herein have been
certified, to certify to the County Clerk of Saline County Kansas,.
a full list of all property liable to assessment and taxation for
such work and improvement, except such property on which the
special assessments aforesaid have been paid in full, as herein-
before provided, together with the respective -amounts due on
each of such lots and pieces of ground, which amounts shall in-
clude the annual installments of such special assessments together
with the interest for one year at the rate of Six per cent {6%}
per annum, on all unpaid balances of such assessments at the be-
ginning of eash such year as aforesaid, and such amounts so
certified as herein provided shall be placed upon the tax roll
by the County Clerk of Saline County, Kansas and collected as
all other taxes are collected.
Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect and be in
full force from and after its publication once in the official City
paper,
