An Ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special
assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the
City of. Salina, Kansas, to pay thecost of curbing, gut-
tering, excavating .and paving Eleventh Street in said City
from the north line of State S reef fo t e south line of
Ash Street, in said City, and relating to and providing
for the collection and payment of such assessments-.
BE..IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of
Salina., Kansas:
Section 1. For' the' purpose of paying the cost of curb-
ing guttering, excavating and paving Eleventh Street in the
City of Salina, Kansas, from the north line of State )Street to
the south line of Ash Street in said City, there are hereby
levied and assessed on the property liable therefor, being
all the lots and pieces of ground lying on either side of said.
Eleventh Street for the distance improved as aforesaid to the
center of the.blocks on either side thereof,, according to the
appraised_ value of such lots and pieces of ground, without re-
gard to the buildings or improvements thereon, special assess-
ments covering the cost of such work and improvements.; said
special assessments being based on the special valuation and
appraisement of said lots and pieces'of'ground'heretobefore made
by three disinterested appraisers appointed by the Board of
Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas, which said appraise-
ment:-Iis hereby referred to and made a part of this ordinance, and
the several amounts levied, apportioned and assessed against
each of said lots and pieces of ground for the purpose aforesaid
are hereby found and determined to be as follows:

Section 2. Said amounts levied, apportioned.and
assessed aforesaid, shall be due and collectible in ten (10}
equal installments, the first becoming due with the taxes
levied for the year 1922, and one"of said installments failing
due each and every year thereafter: until all are paid, and
all to be collected with interest as in this ordinance provided;
PROVIDED, that the owner of any piece of property liable for any
such special assessments may redeem his property from such
liability by'paying into the City Treasury the entire amount
chargeable against the same as in this ordinance designated,
at any time within thirty (30), days after the publication of
this ordinance and before the issuance of the bonds of . said
City in payment of the balance of the cost of said improvements,
and his property so paid on'shall not thereafter be liable
for any further assessments for the cost of said improvements
nor, for any part of said bonds.
Section 30 There is hereby further levied and assessed
against each lot and piece of ground described in this ordinance
six per cent $6%) interest per annum on all of said install-
ments therein mentioned from the date of the bonds which may be
issued at the end of thirty days a,;s specified in the preceding
section hereof, as by law provided, to the time of collection of
the last of said installments as provided by law, which said
interest shall be collected annually at the same time and in the
same manner as said installments are collected; and after the
taking effect of this ordinance it shall be the duty of the City
Clerk of said City to annually, at the same time other taxes are
certified, and until all of said assessments so apportioned and
levied herein have been certified, to certify to the County Clerk
of Saline County, Kansas, a full list of all property liable to
assessment and taxation for such work and improvement, except
such property on which the special assessments aforesaid have been

paid in full, as hereinbefore provided, together with the res-
pective amounts due on each of such lots and pieces of ground,
which°amounts shall include the annual installments of such special
assessments together with the interest for one year at the rate
of Six per cent (6J) per annum, on all unpaid balances of such
assessments at the beginning of each such year as aforesaid, and
such amounts so certified as herein provided shall be placed upon
the tax roll by the County Clerk of Saline County, Kansas and
collected as all other taxes are collected.
Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect and be in
full force from and after its publication once in the official
City paper.

An Ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special
assessments on�certain lots and pieces of ground in the
City of Salina, Kansas, to pay the cost of curbing, gut-
tering, excavating and paving Eleventh Street in said City
from the north line of State Street o e south line of
Ash Street in said City, and -relating to --and providing -
for the collection and payment of such assessments.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of
Salina, Kansas:
Section 1. For the purpose of paying the cost of curb
ing, guttering, excavating and paving Eleventh Street in the
City of Salina, Kansas from the north line of State Street to
the south line of Ash Street in.said City, there are hereby
levied and assessed on the property liable therefor, being
all the lots and pieces of ground lying on either side of said
El.e-venth . S.treet . for,_the_-, distance improved as aforesaid to. the
center of the blocks on either side thereof., according to the
appraised value of such lots and pieces of ground, without re-
gard to the buildings or improvements thereon, special assess-
ments covering the cost of such work and improvements; said
special assessments being based on the special valuation and
appraisement of said lots and pieces of ground heretofore.made
by three disinterested appraisers appointed by the Board of
Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas, which said appraise-
ment is hereby referred to and made a part of this ordinance,
and the several amounts levied, apportioned and assessed against
each of said lots and pieces of ground for the purpose afore-
said are hereby found and determined to be as follows:

Section 2. Said amounts levied,.apportioned aril assessed
aforesaid, shall be due and collectible in ten (10) equal in-
stallments, the first becoming due with the taxes levied for the
year 1922, and one of said installments falling due each,and
every year thereafter until all are paid,,'and all to be collected
with interest as in this orditance provided;.PROVTDED, that the
owner of any piece of property liable for any such special assess-
fient may redeem his ,property from such liability by paying into
the City.Treasury the entire amount chargeable against the,same
as in this ordinance designated, at any time within thirty (30)
days after the publication of this ordinance and before the i-ssu-
anee of the bonds of said City in payment of the balance.of the
cost of said improvements, and his property so paid on shall not
thereafter be liable for any further assessments for the cost of
said improvements, nor for any part of said bonds.
Section 3. There is hereby further levied and assessed
against each lot and piece of ground described in this ordinance
six (6) per cent interest per annum on all,of said installments -
therein mentioned from the date of the bonds which may be issued
at the end of thirty days as specified in the preceding section
hereof, as ,,by law provided, to the time,.: of collection of the
last of said installments as provided by law, which said interest
shall --be collected annually at the same time and in the same man
ner as said -'installments are collected;: and after the taking effect
of this ordinance, it."shall be -the duty of the City Clerk of said
City to annually, at the same timo'ather taxes are certified, and
until all ofsaid assessments so apportioned and levied herein
have been certified, to certify to the County Clerk of Saline
County, Kansas, a full list of all property liable to assessments
and taxation for such work and improvement, except such property
`on which the special assessments aforesaid have been paid in full,
as hereinbefore provided, together with the respective amounts due
on each of such lots and pieces of ground, which amounts shall
include the annual installments of such special assessments togeth-

er with the interest for one year at the rate of Six (6/) per-
cent per annum, on all unpaid balances of such assessments at
the beginning of each such year as aforesaid, and such amounts

so certified as herein provided shall be placed upon the tax
roll by the County Clerk `of.Saline County, Kansas and collect-
ed as all other taxes are collected
Section 4. This-ordinance shall take effect and be in
full force from and after' its publication once in the official.
