An Ordinance specifying and selecting the paving material
to be used and letting a contract for the paving,
excavating, curbing and guttering of certain streets
in the City of Salina,Kans.as.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commis s ion c::r s of the City of
Salina, Ksns.as :
Section 1. That it is hereby determined that Crawford
Avenue in the City of Salina, Kansas from the west line of
Fifth Street to the east line of Santa Fe Avenue in said City,
shall be paved with one course vitrified vertical fibre side
wire cut brick paving blocks not less than three (3) inches
deep, with a Texaco Asphalt Filler or filler equally as good,
laid on a foundation five (5) inches in depth of Portland
Cement Concrete base with one (1) inch Sand Cushion, such pave-
ment within the limits above defined to be thirty-three (25,3)
feet,in width from gutter to gutter.
Section 2. That it 'is hereby determined that Crawford
Avenue in the City of Salina, Kansas, from the west line of

Fifth Street to the east .line of Santa Fe Avenue in said City
shall be curbed and guttered with one cpiece combination cement
e
curb and gutter. Said combined curb and gutter shall be com-
prised of a curb sic (6) inches thick at the top and six and
one-half (62) inches thick at the throat, with gutter twenty-
four (24) inches wide, six (6) inches thick at the throat and
seven (7) inches thick next to the pavement.
Section 3. All excavat-i ng, filling and rolling necessary
for the proper construction of such improvements shall be done
and all of such improvements shall be made and done in strict.
conformity to and in compliance with the. plans and specifica-
tions heretofore rade by the City Engineer of Salina, dans as,
and now on file with the City Clerk of said City, which said
plans and specifications are hereby incorporated in and made a
part hereof in all respects as fully and completely as though
written out at length herein; which plans and specifications
are hereby adopted as and for the plans and specifications of
such work and improvements.
Section 4. That a contract is hereby awarded to G.1j.
Smith and Mat Graham, Jr., co-pattners doing business under the

firm name and style of The Smith=Graham Construction Com-
pany, for the paving, curbing, guttering, excavating and
filling of the above mentioned streets in the limits afore-
said with the materials hereinbefore specified, for the
paving actually -laid and put in place and for the labor ac-
tually performed and the materials ,_ctually furnished at the
following. prices: for excavating and grading seventy-two (72�)
cents per cubic yard; for Portland Cement Concrete bombined
curb and gutter eighty-two cents (82¢) per lineal foot; for
paving actually laid and put in place Three and 23/100 Dol-
lars ($3.23) per square yard. All of said work shall be paid
for according to the measurement made by the City Engineer of
the City of Salina; It is hereby determined and found .that
the prices to be paid for the improvements as aforesaid is less
than the estimated prices of each and all of said improve-
ments as now on file with the City Clerk of the City of Salina,
Kansas.
Section 5. Such contract is awarded upon the express con-
dition that such work and improvements shall be done in strict
accordance with and in compliance.with the plans and speci-
fic.ctions of the City Engineer therefor, which plans and spec-
ifications are hereby made a part of this ordinance and of the
contract awarded, and upon further conditions among others
that the'persons to whom said contract is awarded shall fur-
nish to the City of Salina 'a surety Company bond in the ap-
proximate sum of the cost of such improvements guaranteeing
the prompt, proper
and workmanlike
construction of all
the
same together with
a surety company
bond guaranteeing
such
pavement against all defects in materials and workmanship for
a period of five (5) years from the date of its completion and
acceptance by said City; and saideontract is awarded upon a
further condition that. said persons shall furnish the City of
Salina a good and sufficient, surety company bond guaranteeing
said curb and gutter against all defects in material and work-
manship for a
period of two
(2) years from
the. date
of its
completion and
acceptance of
such work by
said .City;
together
Iwith a good and 'sufficient surety company bond running to the
state of Kansas in an amount approximately equal to the con-
tract price of said improvements and conditioned that said per-
sons shall pay all indebtedness for labor and material furnish-
ed in making the improvements provided for herein.
Section 6. The Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina
are hereby authorized to make and enter into on behalf of said
City all written agreements necessary in order to secure the
construction of
the
improvements herein provided
for.
Section 7
This
ordinance shall take effect
and be in full
force from and
after
its publication once in the
official City
paper.,

BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the .City' of
Salina, Kansas:
Section 1. That it is hereby determined that Crawford

(7) inches thick next to the pavement.
