ORDINANCE NO. 2489

An Ordinance defining -A certain public nuisance, and providing
for the abatement thereof.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of
Salina, Kansas:
Section 1. That i t is hereby declared to be a public
nuisance and unlawful for any person owning-, occupying or having
control of any lot, tract or parcel of ground in the City of
Salina, Kansas to throw, place, or deposit, or permit the throw-
ing, placing, depositing or accumulation thereon of any filth,
sweepings, Takings, excrement, papers, cans,'stable manure, boxes,
weeds., trash, rubbish, waste or litter of any kind whatsoever,
and that any person who shall knowingly permit such a nuisance
to obtain and exist through any of the causes herein enumerated .
or who shall knowingly violate any of the provisions hereof shall,
upon conviction be punished by a fine of not less than Five Dol-
lars ($5.00) and not more than One Hundred ($100.00) Dollars.
Section 2. That in all cases where the owner, occupant
agent or other person having control of any property in said City
upon which any nuisance has obtained and exists by reason of any
of the things defined in Section One (1) hereof, shall fail, re-
fuse or neglect to abate or remove said nuisance within five days
after receiving written notice by the City of Salina so to do,
then said City may abate and remove said nuisance and shall assess
against the property on which said nuisance has been abated the
cost and expense of said abatement, which special assessment shall
be by the City Clerk of Salina, Kansas certified to the County
Clerk of Saline County, Kansas and collected as -other special
assessments are collected.
Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect and be in
full force from and after its publication once in the official
City paper.

of Commissiones and approved by the Mayor of the City of Salina,
.Kansas, April 24th, 1922; and a_record of the vote on its final
adoption is found on Page of Journal No. 10. Said ordinance
was published in the Salina Evening Journal April 1922.
