An ordinance levying and assessing special assessments on cer-
tain lots and pieces of ground in the City of Salina, Kan-
sas to pay the cost of excavating, curbing, and guttering,
.paving and grading certain streets in said City and re-
lating to and providing for the collection of such assess-
ments.

BE IT ORULINED by the mayor and Council of the City 'of Salina:
Section 1. That for the . cost of paying the cost of ex-
cavating4igrading and paving Fifth Street from the south line
of x'resfbtt Avenue to the south side of Bond Street and for the
curbing, guttering) excavating, grading and paving Fifth Street
from the south line of Republic Avenue as .provided in Ordinance
Bumber 2287 that there is hereby levied and assessed against
the property liable therefor, the same beinc the property
abutting on such streets, on either side thereof, for the pur-
pose of such improvements without regard to the buildings or
improvements thereon such special assessments being based on
the valuation of such lots and pieces of ground heretofore made
by three disinterested appraisers appointed by'the Mayor and
Council for the purpose of making such appraisement, which ap=
praisement is hereby referred to and made a part of this ordi-
nance. The several amounts levied and assessed against the lots
and pieces of ground aforesaid for the purpose aforesaid are
hereby found and determined to be as follows:

Section 2. Such amounts so levied and assessed shall be
due and payable from and after the publication of this ordinance.
The City Clerk of the City of Salina shall certify to the County
Clerk of Saline County, Kansas, in the same manner and at the same
time as other taxes are certified for the year 1920, all of the
above special assessments which have not been paid within thir-
ty (30) days after the publication of this ordinance, together
with interest on such amounts in the sum of four and three-quar-
ters (4-3/4%) per cent per annum, and such amounts so certified
shall be placed on the tax roll and collected as other taxes
are collected.
Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect and be in full
force and effect from and after its publication once in the offi-
cial City paper.

An ordinance levying and assessing special assessments on certain lots
and pieces of grotand in the City of Salina, Kansas, to pay the
cost of excavating, curbing and guttering, paving and grading
certain streets in said City and relating to and providitg for
the collection of such assessments.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Mayor and Council of the City of Salina, Kansas:
Section 1. That for the purpose of paying the cost of excavat
ing,. grading and paving rifth Street from the South line of Prescott
Avenue to the South side of Bond Street and for the curbing, gutter-
ing, excavating, grading and paving fifth Street from the South line
of Republic Avenue as provided in Ordinance Number 2287 that there is
hereby levied and assessed against the property liable therefor, the
same being the property abutting on such streets, on either side there-
of, for the purpose of such inprovements without regard to the build=
ings or improvements thereon, such special assessments being based on
the valuation of such lots and pieces of ground heretofore made by
three disinterested appraisers appointed by theMayor and Council for
the purpose of making such appraisment, which appraisement is hereby
