An ordinance levying and assessing special assessments on cer-
tain -lots and pieces of ground in the City of Salina,
Kansas, to pair the cost of excavating,. curbing and gut-
tering and paving, grading certain streets in said City
and relating to and providing for the collection of such .
assessments.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE Mayor and Council of the City of Salina:
Section 1. That for the purpose of Paying the cost of
excavating, curbing, guttering, paving and grading Phillips
Street' from the south line of Nalnut Street to the north line x
of South Street as provided in Ordinance Number 2244 that there.
is hereby levied and assessed against the property liable there-
for, the same being the property abutting on such streets, on
either "side thereof, for the iurpose of such improvements with-
out regard to the buildings or improvements thereon, such spe-
cial assessments being based on the valuation of such lots and
pieces of ground heretofore made by three fisinterested apprais-
ers appointed by the Mayor and Council for the purpose of mak-
ing such appraisement, which appraisement is hereby referred to
and made a part of this ordinance. The several amounts levied
and assessed against the lots and pieces of ground aforesaid are
hereby found and determined to be as follows:

An.ordinance levying and assessing special assessments on certain lots
and pieces of ground in the City of Salina, Dansas, to pay the
cost of excavating, curbing and guttering, paving and grading
certain streest in said City and relating to and providing for
the collection of such assessments.
BE IT OliMJNBD by the Liayor and Council of the City of Salina, Kansas:
Section 1. That for the purpose of paying the cost of excavat-
ing, curbing, guttering, paving and grading Phillips Street from the
South line of 'Walnut Street to the North line of South Street as provided
in Ordinance Number 2244 tthat there is hereby levied and assessed
against the property liable therefor, the same being the property abutt-
ing on such streets, on either side thereof, for the purpose of such
improvements without regard. to the buildings or improvements thereon,
such special assessments beingbased on the valuation of such lots and
pieces of ground heretofore made by three disinterested appraisers
appointed by the Mayor and Council for the purpose of making such appraise-
ment, which appraisement is hereby referred to and made a part of this
ordinance. The several amounts levied and assessed against the lots and
nieces of ground aforesaid f'or the purpose aforesaid are hereby found and
determined to be as follows:

Section 2. Such amounts so leveid and assessed shall be due'
and payable from and after the publication of this ordinance. The
City Clerk of the City of Salina shall certify to the County Clerk of
Saline County, Kansas, in the same manner and at the same time as other
taxes are certified for the year 1920, all of the above special assess-
ments which have not been paid within thirty days after the publication
of this ordinance, together with interest on such amounts in the stun of
four and three-2ousths (4 and 3/4 ;o) per cent per annum, and such amounts
so certified shall be placed on t11e tax roll and collected as other
taxes are collected.
Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect and be in full
force and effect from and after its publication once in the official
City paper.
