ORDINANCE NO. 2282

An ordinance amending certain sections of Ordinance Number
1983 being entitled, "An ordinance regulating the use
of automobiles, motorcycles and other vehicles on the
streets, avenues and alleys of the city of Salina, Kan-
sas, regulating the passage of pedsstrians upon and over
the public streets of the City of Salina; regulating the
operation'of street cars in the City of Salina; provid-
ing penalties for the violation hereof and repealing
Ordinances numbered 1521, 1698 and .1782 of said City of
Salina," and repealing such original sections.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Mayor and Councilmen of the City of Salina:
Section 1 That Section number four (4) of Ordinance No.
1983 be and°'the `same is hereby .amended to read as follows:
"Section 4. No person shall operate any motor vehicle on
the public streets, avenues or alleys of the City of Salina,
Kansas, at a speed greater than twelve (12) miles per hour nor
at a rate of speed greater than is reasonable and proper, and
having regard for the traffic and use of the road, and the con-
dition of the road, nor at a rate of speed such as to endanger
the life or limb of any person."
Section 2. That Section Number Eleven (11)of Ordinance

Number 1983 be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows:
"Section' 11. It shall be unlawful for any person under
fourteen (14) -years of age, or for any intoxicated person to
operate a.motor vehicle upon the.public streets, avenues, lanes
and alleys' of the City of Salina., -or for any person to operate,
take or remove any automobile or other motor vehicle from the
place whereleft by the owner or person in charge thereof without
the consent of the owner of person in charge, and any person vio-
lating any of the provisions of this section shall be deemed guilty
of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be fined a
sum not less than Ten (10.00) Dollars nor more than Two Hundred
($200.00) Dollars, or be confined in the City Jail for a period
not exceeding six (6) months, or by both such fine and Imprison-
ment
Section 3'' That flection Number Sixteen (16) of Ordinance
No. 1983 be and`the same is hereby amended .so as to read as fol-
lows:
"Section 16. Any person violating any of the provisions
of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and,
except as `otherwise,. provided herein, upon conviction thereof
shall be fined in any sum not exceeding One Hundred (100.00)
Dollars or imprisonment not exceeding sixty (60) days in the
City Jail>or'by both such fine and imprisonment."
Sectl on 4. That said original sections four (4), eleven
(11) and sixteen (16) of Ordinance Number 1983 be and the same
are hereby repealed.
Section °5 This ordinance shall take effect and be in full
force from.and after its publication once in the official city
paper.

An ordinance amending certain sections of ordinance Number 1983
being entitled, "An ordinance regulating the use of auto-
mobiles, motorcycles and other vehicles on the streets, aven-
ues and alleys of the Uity of Salina, Kansas; regulating
the passage of pedestrians upon and over the public streets
of the 0ity of Salina; regulating the operation of street
cars in the pity of Salina; providing penalties for the
violation hereof and repealing Ordinances numbered 1521,
1698 and 1782 of said City of Salina," and repealing such
original sections.
BE IT OPDAIPiED by the Mayor and councilmen of the Uity of Salina:
Section 1. ,That section number 4 of Ordinance No. 1983 be
and the same is hereby amended to read as follows:
"Section 4. No person shall operate any motor vehicle on
the public streets, avenues or alleys of the City of Salina, Kan-
sas, at a speed greater than twelve (12) miles an hour nor at a
rate of speed greater than is reasonable and proper, and 'having
regard for the traffic and use of the road, and the condition'of
the
road, nor at a
rate of
speed such as to endanger the life or
limb
of any person.
"
Section 2. That section 11 of Ordinance No. 1983 be and the
same is hereby amended to read as follows:
"Section 11. It shall be unla;,,iful for any person under four-
teen (14) years of age, or for any intoxicated person to operate a
motor vehicle upon the public streets, avenues, lanes and alleys
of the City of Salina, or for any person to operate, take or re-
move any automobile or other motor vehicle from the place where
left by the owner or person in charge thereof without the consent
of the owner or person in charge, and any person violating any
of the provisions of this section shall be deemed guilty of a. mis-
demeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be fined a. sum not less
than Ten ($10.00) Dollars nor more than Two Hundred ($200.00) Dol-
lars, or be confined in the City Jail for a period not exceeding
six (6) months or by both such fine and imprisonment."

Section 3. That Section 16 of Ordinance Pto. 1983 be
and the same is hereby amended so as to read as follows:
"Section 16. Any person violating any of the provisions
of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and,
except as otherwise provided herein, upon conviction thereof
shall be fined in any sum not exceeding One Hundred ($100.0o)
Dollars or imprisonment not exceeding, sixty (60) days in the
City Jail or by both such fine and imprisonment."
Section 4. That said original sections four, eleven
and sixteen of Ordinance Fumber 1983 be and the same are here-
by repealed.
Section 5. This ordinance shall take effect and be in
full force from and after its publication once in the official
City paper.
