2264 Improving Streets330 O DI 1"i CE �O. 2264, (Published in The Salina Evening Journal June 1919) An ordinance specifying and selecting the paving material to be used and letting the contract for the paving, excavat- ing, curbing, guttering and grading of certain streets in the city of Salina.. Be it ordained by the. Mayor and Council of the citir of Salina: Section 1. The Nayor and Councilmen hereby determine that Phillips Street from the north line of South Street to the south line of 'I''Valnut Street in said City shall be paved with Asphaltic -Concrete paving with a two (2) inch `T'exac'o 4s haltic Concrete paving material on a five p p G (5) inch concre-te base; and that Second Street from the south side of Iron Aven-. ue a distance of four hundred (400) feet shall be paved with `l'arvia macadam paving six and one-half �(6N) inches in thick- ness. Section 2. It is necessary and hereby ordered that said streets within the limits defined in Section One hereof be curbed and guttered on both sides thereof with cement curbing and guttering, the curb part thereof to be six (6) inches in thickness and the gutter part thereof to be forty-two (42) inches in width from the back edge of such curbing to the pav- ing line on said streets. Such curbing and guttering at the intersection of streets and alleys shall return to the lot lines of such streets, Section 3. Such paving shall be of the following widths: ��t On Phillips Street within the limits heretofore defined such paving shall be 33 feet in width from gutter to gutter. On Second Street within the limits heretofore defined such paving shall be 36 feet in width from gutter to Atter, with an unpaved strip of eight (8) feet left in the middle of such street. Section 4. x.11 excavating, filling and rolling neces- sary for the proper construction of such improvements shall be done and all of such improvements shall be made in strict con - fortuity to and in compliance with the plans and specifications made heretofore by the City Engineer and are now on file with the City Clerk, which said plans and specifications are here- by incorporated in and made a part hereof, in all respects as fully and completely as though written out at length herein; and such plans and specifications are hereby adopted as and for the plans and specifications of such work and impro-.rementsl- 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 Section 5. R contract is hereby awarded to IVI. R. Amerman of Saline, Kansas, dor the paving, excavating and filling, curb- ing and guttering -of the above mentioned streets within the lim- its above defined and with the Material specified herein and for the prices as follows, to -wit: For the paving of Phillips Street within the limits above defined and with the material spe- nified the said Iv. R. Amerman shall be paid for the paving actu- ally laid and put in place ; wo (Y2.30) and 30/100 Dollars per square yard. For the paving of Second Street within the limits above defined and with the material sp� cified the said M. R. Amerman shall be paid the sutra of One ($1.46) and 46100 Dol- lars per square yard for the Paving actuallIT laid and put in place the said ISI. R; Amerman shall be paid the sum of Une ($1.20) and 20/100 Dollars per lineal foot and for excavation he shall be paid the sum of j'Iinety (90�) cents per cubic yard for all dirt actually excavated and removed. All of said paving and curbing and glittering and excavation to be paid for according; to the measurements thereof by the City Engineer of the city of Salina_, ha.nsa s . Section 6. Such contract is awarded upon the express con- dition that such work and improvement shall be done in strict accordance with and in compliance with the plans and specifica- tions of the �ity Engineer of the City of Salina, therefor, here- by making said plans and specifications a part of this ordinance and of the contract hereby awarded and upon the further condi- tions among others, that the said 14- R. Amerman shall give to the City of Salina, Kansas, a suret7T bond in the amount approxi- mating pproxi-mating the sum of the cost of such improvements, guaranteeing the proper and workmanlike construction of all of such improvements and guaranteeing such pavement against all defects for a perica of five (5) ;Tears and such 'curb and Sutter for a period of -t-vsto (2) years from the date of its final completion and acceptance by said city. 3i Section 7. This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its publication once in the official city paper. Passed and approved, June 2nd, 1919. BE IT ORDAINED by the Mayor and Council of the City of Salina, Kansas: Section 1. The Mayor and Councilmen hereby determine that Phillips Street from the North line of South Street to the South line of 't,alnut Street in said City shall be paved with Asphaltic Concrete concrete paving with a Two (2) inchtexaco asphaltic /Paving material on a. It is necessary and hereby ordered that said streets within the limits defined in Section One hereof be curbed and guttered on both sides thereof with cement curbing and guttering, the curb part thereof to be Six (6) inches in thickness and the gutter part thereof to be Forty-two (42) inches in width from the back edge of such curbing to the paving line on said streets. All excavating, filling and roiling r_ecessery for the proper construction of such improvements shall be done and all of such improvements shall be made and done in strict conformity to and in compliance with the plans and specifications made heretofore 2. by the City Engineer and are now on file with the City Clerk, which said plans and specifications are hereby incorporated in and made a cart hereof, in all respects as fully and completely as though written out at length herein; and such plans and specifications are hereby adopted as and for the plans and specifications of such work and im- provements. Section 5. A contract is hereby awarded to I,I. R. Amerman of Salina, Kansas, for the paving, excavating and filling, curbing and guttering of the above mentioned streets within the limits above defined and with the material specified herein and for the prices as follows, to -wit: For the paving of Phillips Street within the limits above defined and with the material specified the said Id. R. Amerman shall be paid for the paving actually laid and put in place Two 02.30) and 30/100 Dollars per square yard. For the paving of Second Street within the limits above defined and with the material, specified the said LI. R. Amerman shall be paid the surf of One ($1.46) and 46100 Dollars per square yard for the paving actually laid and pat in place. For the curbing and guttering actually laid and put in place the said I.I. H. Amerman shall be paid the sum of One 01.20) and 20100 Dollars per lineal foot and for excavation he shall be paid the sou: of ninety (90�) Cents per cubic yard for all dirt actually exca- vated and removed. All of said paving and curbing and guttering and excavation to be paid for according to the measurements thereof by the City En- gineer of the City of Salina, F.ansas. The Mayor and Council of said City hereby determine and find that the price agreed to be paid for the improvement as aforesaid is less than the estimated prices and cost of each and all of said improvements as now on file with the City Clerk. 3. Section G. Such contract is awarded upon the express con- dition that such wiork and improvement shall to done in strict accor- dance with and in compliance with the plans and specifications of the City Engineer of the City of Salina, therefor, hereby miaking said plans and specifications a part of this ordinance and of the contract hereby awarded and upon the further conditions among others, that the said M. R. Amerman shall give to the City of Salina, T_anses, a surety bond. in the amount approximating the sum of the cost of such improve- ments, guaranteeing the proper and workmanlike construction of all of such improvements and guaranteeing such pavement against all defects for a period of five (5) years and such curb and gutter for a period of two (2) years from the date of its sinal completion and acceptance by said City. Section 7. -This ordinance small take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its publication once in the official city paper. Passed and approved June 2nd, 1919. Mayor.
