2251 Improving Salina Streetsv a� ORDINANCE NO. 2251 (Published in the Salina Lvening Journal May 1919) An ordinance specifying and selecting the paving material to be used and letting the contract for the paving, excavat- ing, curbing and guttering of certain streets in the City of Salina, Kansas. BE IT ORDAINED by the Mayor and .Councilmen of the City of Salina: Section 1. The Mayor and Council hereby determine that Third Street from the south line of Elm Street to the north line of Ash Street in the City of Salina, Kansas, shall be paved with one -course vitrified vertical fiber side wire cut Prick Paving Blocks not less -than three (3) inches deep with Texaco Asphalt filler or filler equally as good, laid on a foundation six (6) inches in depth of Portland Cement concrete base with one (1) inch sand cushion. Such pavement, within the limits above defined, shall be forty-three (43) feet in width from gutter to gutter. .Section 2. The Mayor and Council hereby determine that Third Street from the south line of Elm Street to the north line of 11sh Street in said City shall be curbed and guttered with one piece cement curb and gutter. The curb to be six (6) inches in thickness at the top, seven (7) inches in thickness at the base and sixteen (16) inches in depth. The gutter will, be six (6) inches in thickness next to the curb and eight (8) inches in thfikness next to the street. Section 3. All excavating, filling and rolling necessary for the -proper construction of such improvement shall be done and all of such improvements shall be made and done in strict conformity to and in compliance with the plans and specifications made heretofore by the City Engineer and are nova on file with the City Clerk. which said plans and specifications are hereby incorporated in and made a part hereof, in all respects as fully. and completely as though written out at length herein; and such plans and specifications are hereby adopted as and for the plans and specifications of such work and improvements. Section 4. A contract is hereby awarded to M. R. Amerman of Salina, Kansas, for the paving, curbing, guttering, excavat- ing and filling of the above mentioned d street in the limits aforesaid with the materials hereinbefore specified at a price, for the paving actually laid and put in place, of $3.78 per square yard. For the curbing and guttering actually laid and construct- ed he shall be paid a price of X1.20 per lineal foot and for ex - cavating, grading and filling he shall be paid a price of 90/1 1 1 1 1 1 0, �r 1 4 per cubic yard for the actual number of cubic yards of dirt so excavated, graded or filled in order to properly complete all of said work.. All of said work is to be paid for accord- ing to the measurement thereof by the City Engineer of the City of Salina. The Mayor and Uouncil of said City hereby determine and find that the price to be paid for the improvements as afore- said is less than the estimated prices and cost of each and all of said improvements as now on' f ile with the City Clerk. Section 51 Such contract is a,Jarded upon the express con- dit'ion that such work and improvement shall be done in strict accordance with and in compliance with the plans and specifica- tions of the City Engineer therefor, which are hereby made a part of this ordinance, and of the contract hereby awarded, and upon further conditions among others, that the said Aft. R. Amer- man shall give to the I-ity of Salina, a st?rety bond in the appnox imate sum of the cost of such improvements, guaranteeing the proper and workmanlike construction of all of such improvements and guaranteeing such pavement against all defects for a period of five years from the date of its completion and acceptance by the °'said Gity.
