Award the contract for the Curb and Gutter and Concrete Pavement Improvements, Project No. 00-
1263.
BACKGROUND
This project involves the repair or replacement of existing concrete pavements and curb and gutter
throughout the city. This work includes large sections of pavement and long portions of curb and
gutter systems which lend themselves to contract maintenance as opposed to in-house services. The
project will include improvements at four (4) different locations throughout Salina. A map of the
project locations is attached.
Bids were received for this project on Tuesday, December 5, 2000 as follow:

The 2000 budget allocates $1,300,000 in special gas tax funds for the 2000 street maintenance
program. Other contract maintenance conducted this year has included crack sealing, slurry sealing,
brick street rehabilitation and manhole regrading.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Commission award the contract for the Curb and Gutter and
Concrete Pavement Improvements, Project 00-1263, to Wilbur Construction Co., in the amount of
$111,807.50.
