Award of contract for 1994 Subdivision Improvements~Phase II, Project Non 94-898.
Backqround
The City Commission has previously approved four (4) petitions for street, water,
sanitary sewer and storm drainage improvements in the following subdivisions as
well as two City Utility Department projects:
1. Tasker Addition, located north of Schilling and east of Sam's Club.
2. Tulane CourtAddition, located north of Otto Avenue and west of True Value
Hardware.
3. Austin Subdivision, located north of Cloud Street and east of Ohio.
4. Country Oak Estates, located in the southwest corridor of the
Schilling/Ii35 Interchange.
5. Water Department Warehouse at Third and Elm, parking lot and access road.
6. State Street Water Main Replacement, Broadway to Chicago.
Bids were received for this project on Tuesday, May 10, 1994, as follow:
Alternate bids were accepted for different construction materials.

All petitioners have submitted either 20% cash or 35% letters of Credit in
accordance with the City's subdivision development policy. The subdivision
improvements will be funded initially by the City with general obligation bonds
and then repaid byspecial assessments. The City Utility Department improvements
will be funded by the Water and Wastewater Capital Improvement fund.
This project will provide 90 developable residential lots.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended the City Commission award the contracts for Project NO. 94-898
to J. H. Shears Sons, Inc. for streets/storm drainage improvements in the amount
of $290,852.00 and to Smoky Hill, L.L.C. for water/sanitary sewer improvements
in the amount of $168,929.85 for a combined amount of $459,781.85.
