Resolution 94-4682 , authorizing a contract with Camp Dresser and McKee, Inc.
professional engineering and consulting services for the addition of monitoring and
supplemental site assessment activities for the City of Salina Municipal Solid Waste
Landfill.
Background:
Subtitle D landfill regulations and the draft KDHE Solid Waste regulations require
monitoring wells 150 meters in the direction of the ground water flow from the landfill
Existing monitoring wells much closer to the existing landfill cells have indicated some
contamination is present. The KDHE has requested the City submit a work plan t¢
ensure the existing landfill is not a potential threat to users of the ground water.
The firm of Camp Dresser and McKee, Inc. has submitted a work plan and the plan has
been approved by KDHE.
The proposed work plan submitted by Camp Dresser and McKee, Inc. would cost no1
more than $67,689. The contract would come from the fee supported Solid Waste fund.
Camp Dresser and McKee, Inc. will be subcontracting the geoprobe and the well
drilling. CDM has obtained three proposals for the subcontract work for $40,777. CDI~
feels and City Staff concurs, the low proposed drilling fee best meets the requirements
to provide adequate site assessment.
Recommended Action:
Approve Resolution 94-4682, authorizing a contract with Camp Dresser and McKee, Inc.
to provide consulting services for detection monitoring and supplemental site assessmenl
activities.
