BACKGROUND This project involves the remodeling of the main floor communications room at the Salina Police Department for the addition of two interrogation rooms and the relocation of one police captain and one secretary. The communication operation was moved from this main floor space to the basement in 1994. The attached Change Order No. 1 includes the removal of a raised concrete floor in the remodeled rooms. In the original design, the architect assumed the raised floor was full-depth concrete. During remodeling, the contractor discovered the false floor was actually made up of three inches of concrete over masonry rubble (CMV). With this finding, the architect and contractor determined that the floor can be easily removed resulting in more usable space and improved accessibility. The original contract amount for the project is $22,225.00. The total amount of Change Order No. 1 is $1,000.00. The 1995 capital improvement program budget allocates $25,000 from the building and facilities account for this project. RECOMMENDTION It is reco~t~,ended that the City Commission approve Change Order No. 1 for the Police Department Remodeling Improvements, Project No. 95-941, in the amount of $1,000.00.
