Approval of the Eastgate Addition Drainage Improvements, Project
No. 95-937.
Background
This project involves modifications and improvements to the
existing Eastgate Addition drainage system. As You know, This
project has been discussed since the flooding problems encountered
in 1993. The improvements have been designed and ready for
construction bid letting, since September, 1994. However, the
drainage easement necessary for the new channel was just acquired
by the City with the platting of GICO Addition. The project may
now move forward.
The improvements include increasing the capacity of the existing
detention basin, improving the pump operation in that basin and
construction of a new channel from Eastgate north to the levee
outfall structure. These improvements are designed to signifi-
cantly reduce the flooding of the streets and ditches in the
average storm events.
This project was carried over from the 1994 budget in the Capital
Improvement Program category. The source of funds for the project
is the General Fund.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Commission approve the Eastgate
Addition Drainage Improvements, Project No. 95-937, and authorize
staff to set a date to receive bids.
