July 18, 1980
WHEREAS:
On June 7, 1980, the City of Grand Island, Nebraska, was
devastated by 6 tornadoes. Many families were left homeless
and without medical aid.
WHEREAS:
The citizens of Salina would like to assist our sister city
in this time of disaster and public emergency. The initiative
and concern of our community has been demonstrated many times
in the past.
We ask all Salinans to join together today in support of
USA Day.
The United Salinans Auction will be held Friday, July 18, at
6:00 p.m., in the BiCenter, with all proceeds to be utilized
in the best interest of the community of Grand Island;
WHEREAS:
NOW THEREFORE, I, Dan Geis, Mayor of the City of Salina, Kansas, do hereby
proclaim Friday, July 18, 1980 as
USA DAY
and call upon all citizens
to support this worthwhile cause.
