Bids were received on June 5, 1980 at 10:00 A.r1. for certain storm sewer
improvements on West Ash Street (Project No. 79-658). The bids received are
tabulated below:
(a) Arkansas Construction, Inc. $396,009.00
(b) r1anhattan Trenching, Inc. $374,666.50
(c) Smoky Hi 11, Inc. $336,244.72
(d) Stevens Contractors, Inc. $384,444.00
(e) Wilson Constructors, Inc. $377,284.00
These five (5) bids were reviewed by our office and all bids were found to
be valid. The low bidder, Smoky Hill, Inc., meets the current requirements of
the Salina Human Relations Department and of H.U.D.

It is, therefore, our recommendation that the contract for the above storm
sewer improvements (Project No. 79-658) be awarded to Smoky Hill, Inc., Salina,
Kansas, who submitted the low bid of $336,244.72.
This contract would be paid for entirely by Community Development Block
Grant funds.
