PROCLAMATION
Amateur Radio Week
May 26 through June 1, 1980
WHEREAS, the many Amateur Radio Operators in the City of Salina stand
ready to aid and assist government and law enforcement agencies in time of
natural disasters and public emergencies.
WHEREAS, those'Amateurs donate their time and equipment and educate
themselves in the fascinating art of radio-electronics and at the same
time devote themselves to the service of the general public.
WHEREAS, the initiative and resourcefulness of these many radio
operators has been demonstrated many times.
WHEREAS, this is the 32nd anniversary of the Central Kansas Amateur
Radio Club and on May 31 and June 1 the Club is sponsoring th~ first state
Amateur convention.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Dan S. Geis, Mayor of the City of Salina, Kansas,
do hereby proclaim the week of May 26 through June 1, 1980 as
AMATEUR RADIO WEEK
in the City of Salina, and urge all citizens to give proper attention and
credit to the men and women engaged in this important and essential communi-
cations program.
