Approval of the Well House Rehabilitation Project No. 93-887 and
authorize the setting of a date to receive bids.
Background
In order to insure the structural integrity of fourteen (14) of the
City's well houses, it is necessary to renovate these units. A well
house contains a raw water pump and motor; electrical switch gear;
telemetry controls; water meter; etc. Most of these brick structures
need external improvements to extend their useful life and enhance
their external appearance.
This project consists of renovation of the following major items on
a majority of the well houses:
(a) Roofs, flashings and downspouts
(b) Doors and windows
(c) Masonry and wall copings
(d) Roof hatches and towers
(e) Painted metal surfaces
Three of the well houses will be demolished and reconstructed. It is
not economically feasible to rehabilitate these structures.
Appleby and Marsh Architects prepared the construction documents and
will perform the necessary construction administration services.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended the City Commission approve the Well House
Rehabilitation Project No. 93-887, and authorize the Engineering
Department to set a date to receive bids.
