Kansas faces many challenges as the decade of the 80's begins.
We face a serious energy crisis. We are challenged as a nation to
remain a leader in the search for World Peace, and we are challenged
to conserve and use wisely all our many natural resources;
Among the most valued natural resources we possess are the
skills, talents and capabilities vested in our older citizens. To
meet the economic and social challenges of the 80's this state must
conserve, nurture and assure that these resources are used wisely;
Older Kansans have only recently begun to see on the horizon;
to see that their state view them as valuable, treasured resources.
Older Kansans want to stay in the mainstream of the economic and
social development, they want to be active partners in the challenge
of the 80's;
To hasten this en lightning and to assist older Kansans in
bringing their vast experience and skills to the market place,
NOW THEREFORE, I KAREN GRAVES, ~~YOR OF THE CITY OF SALINA,
do hereby proclaim the week of March 9-15, 1980, as
EMPLOY THE OLDER WORKER WEEK
in the City of Salina and urge all citizens of this great community
to join me in this effort to increase public awareness of the
employment needs and concerns of older workers and to assist those
persons in finding meaningful and gainful employment opportUnities
in our community.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused
the Seal of the City of Salina to be affixed this Tenth Day of
March 1980.
