Approval of the Memorial Hall Parking Lot Improvements, Project No. 96-990, and
authorization to set the bid date.
BACKGROUND
This project, the Memorial Hall Parking Lot Improvements, is included in the 1996 Capital
Improvement Program. The project tire refers only to the general location of this new parking
lot, which will be located on three vacant lots directly north of Memorial Hall at the southeast
comer of North Tenth Street and Park Street. The project is a collaborative effort of the City
and Saline County. The users of the parking lot will include city and county employees from
the City Police Department, Saline County Sheriff Department and Memorial Hall.
The three vacant lots were purchased by the City (2) and Saline County (1) in 1995. The
existing structures were removed or demolished in 1996. The proposed parking lot was
designed by city engineering staff. The new lot will provide 41 additional off-street parking
spaces. It is anticipated that the lot will be constructed by Spring, 1997.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that City Commission approve the Memorial Hall Parking Lot
Improvements, Project No. 96-990, and authorize staff to establish the bid date for the project.
