At their September 18, 1979 meeting the Salina City Planning Commission reconsidered
the previous recommendation made at their August 21, 1979 meeting. At that time
an alternative plan was presented that the applicant hoped would resolve the
problems associated with the median break on S. Ohio and park access. However,
the vote on a motion to recommend approval subject to the revised plan ended in
a deadlock (4-4). Therefore, the Planning Commission has no recommendation for
the City Commission. The Planning Commissioners voting against the application
appeared to disagree with the use (storage yard) at this location. Those in favor
felt that that the applicant had satisfactorily resolved the two primary issues.
In accordance with a "failure to recommend" as provided for in K.S.A. 12-708,
the City Commission "...may take such action as it deems appropriate".
Should you desire to approve this application, the Planning Staff would recommend
that you do so subject to a replat of Lot 3, Surveyor's Plat No. 52 being completed
prior to submission of the Final P.D.D., as per the attached Ordinance
You may also vote to deny the application in its entirety.
