#Z77-16, filed by John Mize for the rezoning of a portion of the East
84 acres of the Northeast Quarter (NE~) of Section 35-13-3 from IA-1"(FP)
(Agricultural - Flood Plain) and IC-5"(FP) (Service Commercial - Flood
Plain) to IC-6"(FP) (Heavy Commercial - Flood Plain) and II-2"(FP) (Light
Industrial - Flood Plain). This application contains approximately 29.7
acres.
At their July 3, 1979 meeting, the Salina City Planning Commission voted unanimously
(8-0) to recommend that the City Commission rescind the tentative rezoning given
Application #Z77-16 (1st Reading - September 26, 1977). The rezoning was originally
approved subject to platting. The platting process was started but not completed
within the one year time period provided for in Section 36-102(6) of the Salina
Zoning Ordinance.
When informed of the provisions of Section 36-102(6), the applicant requested a
six month extension in which to record the plat. At that time that was the only
remaining step necessary to complete the process. The Planning Commission granted
the request for the extension. No progress towards recording the plat was made
in that time. The applicant requested that the Planning Commission vote to
rescind the rezoning.
The City Commission, in order to accomplish this action in accordance with the
Planning Commission's recommendation, should place the above-mentioned ordinance
on second reading and then vote to deny it.
